Kelvin Benjamin says he was traded because he didn't want to be here.

My thing that frustrated me more than anything about Benjamin were his boneheaded penalties. He had numerous drive-killing penalties on 3rd downs where we had gotten a 1st down and he had some stupid block in the back or unnecessary roughness penalty that set us back so far we failed to convert on the ensuing play.

C’mon man you’re not new here. Everyone knows Smitty and Cam did not get along to the point of physical altercation. That’s just who Smitty is. He’s just another drama queen, selfish elite WR diva. There’s tons out there for some reason that’s just how elite wrs work. Smitty even more so because he physically injured other people to the extent of ruining their lives and careers.

Digressing...Cam could not thrive with a persona like that established here. Anyone who says we never should have rid ourselves of 89 the time we did does not understand team building and is probably just a casual fan.

that's completely fair and I agree I'm just being nosy and want to know what the story Hartstock told

He could make occasional spectacular plays.  But how many drives have been stalled because of the above...or running the wrong route?

Sadly, does not sound like he has learned anything from being traded. Blaming the Panthers will not help him become a better receiver.

My favorite KB moment was the Catch over Sherman and Earl Thomas in Charlotte, I thought we had something special after this.

But they can't all be winners.

Tried to post the YT but the NFL rules BS said Nah u can't

I just have a hard time believing that Cam would be bullied by a midget. I still want to hear what Ben said though, but looks like we won't.

Try asking Rick Bonnell.

He probably won't have a link but the story clearly made an impression on him, so he's likely to remember at least some of the details.

My lady follows his lady on Instagram, and you know what she sees a whole lot of? KB being a lazy fat ass playing video games in the background, and not just during the offseason.  This guy wants to talk about being a WR1 but ain't trying to put in the extra work to be all pro.  Just wants to ride his 1st round draft pick status and get paid, so his woman can post to brag on Instagram about the 2.8 million dollar house they are looking at buying. At best he ended up being a 50/50 jump ball specialist, and he wasn't always very special at it.

It's kinda sad to look at the WR taken after him that year.

Yeah, there are 6-8 receivers that went after him in the draft that I would rather have (of course, that is with the benefit of hindsight).  I was really unhappy with that pick at the time though.  Watched him play for years at FSU, and saw 3rd round talent at best.  He turned out slightly better than I expected, to be honest, but was still a bad pick.

For a guy who can battle for the catch and bring everything in that's thrown his way, he sure has interesting stats.  In his rookie season he was targeted 145 times and caught only 50% of them.  For comparison, Olsen was targeted 123 times and caught 68% of them.  In 2016 Benjamin was targeted 118 times, or basically two times less per game and was still only catching 53%.  I guess those two missing passes are the WR1 passes he deserved based on reasons?

For perspective, there were 41 WRs in 2016 that got 100 or more targets.  36 of them had a higher catch percentage than Benjamin.

Great analysis, but no way did Benjamin consult any stats to form his conclusion.  His pride was hurt and he's saying what any young guy would say to keep their own confidence up.  He knows damn well he was lazy and took his quick stardom for granted.  Good luck to him in his next chapter.

I was awfully concerned when he reported to his second training camp.  Not because he was overweight, but because of the way he reacted when the coaches called him out after it.

I don't remember if one of the Observer's guys wrote it in a column we could find, but I remember one of them tweeted that Kelvin turned his uniform around backwards and stood on the sideline after whatever was said.  The reporter said a coach had to go and talk to him to get past the situation.

I knew then there was a potential problem with his attitude or "coachability", a willingness to accept correction.

Still had hopes he could mature, but......
