Julio Jones holding out

What if he gets career ending injury?

Then he doesn't get paid the incentives. Look he can't hold out for 3 years so he is going to play on his current contract. The question is whether the Falcons can sweeten the pot without encouraging everyone to start holding out.

No, not really.

This will be the downfall if this league.

They can't continue to pay out these outrageous individual contracts, and the teams paying them out, remain competitive.

Julio Jones is a fantastic receiver, but no single receiver is worth that much money.

A salery cap via position has to be looked at, or just do away with the salery cap all together.

Julio is a great receiver, top 2 in the league....but this is some bush league poo. Of all the years to pull this, you wait till you scored a grand total of 3 TDs. We always re-up our guys 1 year before they're due, not half way into a contract. You guys want to throw 2 #1's our way? I'd probably settle for a 1st and 3rd.

You can keep him.  I hope your team gives him a big fat raise and cripples your cap but I suppose they will work something out.  Third leg Greg pulled something similar recently although he didn't hold out he got himself a nice raise with two years left on his contract.  It happens.

Players have been holding out for years. This isn't new, it's just a lot of fun because it's Julio and the Failclowns.

An argument can be made that Julio signed the contract, so he should honor it and take the money he agreed to. The flipside to that is teams terminate contracts early all the time. It's just part of the game. Julio is worth much more than his current contract is paying him. Don't blink Julio!
