Might want to remember any team can sign any of our practice squad players to their active roster and we spent a fairly high 4th round pick on Thomas.

How about this? We put him on the Practice Squad. If he gets poached, we know we made a decent pick. If he does not get poached, we know we made a bad pick. Win-win.

So your plan is Greg Olsen and Chris Manhertz?!?!?!

Yikes.

My fellow Huddlers.....we have been waiting for Norv for years.  He is a mediocre HC and a great OC.  I believe he will deliver us to the promise land.  I am looking forward to another NFC championship game in Charlotte.  Where is the next game??

Well, if I had my druthers, I would defiantly druther give him an opportunity to shine here as a Panther. But hey, you gots to do what you gots to do.

To be honest, as Thomas is a 4th rounder, is it really feasible to even count on much production from him this year? The kid passes the eye test from his college work, but can he transition it to the NFL? It would be great if he can. I mean, it would make us a better team. And I can definitely live with that.

Now don't quote me on this. But, isn't the SuperB owl in ATL. this year? Would be interesting to see how many Panther fans show up for that game.

How bad will everyone feel when Cam puts up 4500 yards passing with 40 TD's, realizing how much Shula held Cam back?

Not gonna lie, I’ll be both happy as hell and mad as hell. Most of us have always felt that it was Cam who was carrying Shula and there would definitely be some sting to the realization that we wasted most of Cam’s prime with a complete fuging hack living off of his daddy’s name.

It's not just Norv.  We have Olsen and Funchess, but now they're joined by Wright, Smith, and hopefully a healthy Samuel.  Not to mention DJ Moore.  Couple that with a second year CMC and CJ Anderson and our offense looks as stacked as it's been in Cam's entire career.

As a rookie Cam had Stewart and Williams, Steve Smith, Olsen, and Jeremey Shockey.  Cam threw for over 4,000 yards and 21 TDs.  The next year he had 3,869 and 19 TDs.  That's when Chud left, and his next five years he averaged 3,430 yards passing.  Coincidentally, he also played most of those years with his top receiver being Ted Ginn.

The bottom line is, I can't remember a time in his career where Cam has been set up so well to succeed, except maybe in his rookie year.  If the defense is still a top ten unit and we stay healthy, this season ought to be a lot of fun.

If we're talking starter here, I'd agree, but we're not. Thomas is going to be a backup, and initially, his primary function will be as a blocker, which he is already good at.  And production is a tricky word here.  Most fans define production for a TE as catches and TD's, but in this case, Thomas' actual production will be based more on his blocking, which cannot be quantified.

When all is said and done, I think he will do just fine.  He'll get a few catches here and there, but for the most part, he'll develop as a receiver while providing solid support in the running and passing game.  And to be honest, I think he walks in the door already better than Manhertz.  Just from the limited action I saw from him in college, I think his rawness is being somewhat overstated.  So, while he is not polished and clearly has room to grow, he has shown he has soft hands and can get open, and he is already a very good inline blocker.  IMO, he'll be an ideal #2 TE for us this year.

What strikes me reading that article are phrases like this:

"He's detail oriented"

"He demands precision"

"He wants things a certain way"

"I have to adjust what I do"

All of these things are framed as adjustments, which then begs the question, "Was this not true in the past?"

One of the frequently heard whispers about our staff has been that they're like the parent who wants to be their child's best friend (this includes Rivera).

Doesn't sound like Turner fits that mold.
