One amazing stat under JR’s leadership

After over two decades of Carolina football under the leadership of owner Jerry Richardson , his win/loss record was a very average...

192-192-1

Cant get more average than that, hopefully Tepper can do a better job of ensuring that we field teams year after year that are competitive.

That’s actually pretty good, if you look at the total list, 3 of the team ahead of us would be below us if you only started counting after the Panthers became a franchise.

If you started counting when the Panthers were a franchise for all teams we’ve been in the bottom third of the NFL until just very recently and graduated to right below average. That’s awful.

None of the teams below us other than Jacksonville got the advantages that we did starting out.

Even once you get past the extras that the league gave us, many of those teams were created long before free agency became what it is today.

Teams that started new before us were true expansion teams. Their road to relevance was way harder than ours.

But Houston sucked for years out of the gate.

But there’d be other teams above us as well if we just did since 95

I'd have to look back, but I'm pretty sure they didn't get quite as much as we did starting out. A lot of other owners got pretty pissed off when the Panthers and the Jaguars were in the conference championship games in just their second year.

That said, Houston thoroughly screwed up how they handled David Carr's development. That, more than anything else, is probably the reason they started off terrible.
