Does Cam have to be Lebron in 2018

Sure they put some new faces around Cam this season but they didn’t do a great job.

In order for this team to go far Cam is once again going to have to carry the load much like LeBron does.

You blowhards can sit on here and jerk each other off all day long talking about “weapons” but the truth is it’s the same sh!t once again.

Why are you here again? Don't you pull for the Bills?

Anyone in particular you suggest would have been a better addition? Of course we have to subtract at the same time. Ex. Allen Robinson = No Poe, Smith, Wright and Cockrell.

I’d take Robinson over all those guys fwiw but regardless instead of playing the who I would’ve signed game because I’ve done that so many times it’s more of what we have im concerned about.

That left side of the line is atrocious. I fully expect Amini to be the starting LG week 1. We’ve seen Matt Kalil in a Norv Turner system before and we’re another Olsen injury away from having a 4th round raw rookie starting TE.

We’re again banking on Funchess taking the next step and an aging Torrey Smith who is being passed from team to team.

We have a lot of “ifs” on offense. I was pleased with the CJ Anderson signing, hopefully he can provide a little consistency in our running game to help take the load off Cam.

I also still say IF Byrd can stay healthy he’ll have a real role on this team. In terms of route running and WR skills he’s ahead of Samuel and I’d even argue Moore.

At the end of the day I’m just saying, this team doesn’t go anywhere without Cam being Cam aka Superman

Don't we get this question or something like it once a week?

It's cool, we have a superstar QB who can take over a game on his own. We also have a MLB that can shut down an opposing offense if he knows the gameplan better than the opposing QB.

And we have a lot of guys who have the capability to jump up and dominate a game in some way if the cards fall just right.

But it all comes down to injuries on how a team does. Let's just  hope we avoid the injury bug this year, seems like we've been bit hard the last couple of years.

This is a tough comparison when basketball players play both sides of the ball. So, you really need to be more specific with this comparison.

If they really mean, will he need to carry the offense like he has in the past? Then no, that was the purpose in bringing in all of these offensive weapons.

He will not need to do everything on offense like LeBron does - leading the team in every major category? That's why CMC was drafted last year and CJ was brought in this year. You can't have sustained success if your starting QB is also your leading rusher in yards and goal line TDs. Otherwise every team would just run the triple option.

Now I interpreted the comparison as: will Cam need to be the best player on the field every game in order for the Panther to win? I think the answer here is yes. He will need to be able to make plays with both his arm and his legs. I don't think we have the kind of weapons that will allow Cam and Norv to simply out-strategize other teams. Cam will have to make splash plays in the passing game and kill defenses with his legs - particularly on off schedule plays.

I hope that Norv can help Cam be a more disciplined quarterback taking what the defense is giving him instead of always going for the big splash play. Using his weapons to do the damage while he pulls the trigger.  That helps give us a chance to win even when he isn't having a great day. He can be decent and we actually have enough talent around him to outplay the defense without gimmicks . I get the feeling that the team is all in this year.

Usually for a team to be good their QB has to play well. I know there are exceptions at times but for the most part there seems to a be a pretty good correlation there.

There is a reason they are the highest paid position.  If someone wants to build a team that can carry the QB they should just find a cheap QB.

In 2015 and especially 2017, yes Cam carried the team and forced some wins we wouldn't have had. Cam leading the team in rushing last year?! Insane!

This year, he shouldn't have to carry the team in quite the same way. There's more depth and diversity of offensive weapons, PLUS Norv, who should help O be more efficient.

Carrying a team, as in also accounting for a large percentage of the rushing attack, isn't necessarily the same as playing "well".  I would think most people would agree he played better in 2015 although he probably contributed more in 2017 as far as % of production for the team.
