Day 4 notes

Gano hasnt been a bad kicker, but his long range has been sketchy for a couple years now. He lost us the philly game last year. If he hits the 35 yarder, we only needed a fg at the end instead of TD. We were in easy fg range. Im pretty sure the same thing happened in one of the aints game too, cant remember. Also Gano lost us the Denver opener in '16, set the tone for the whole year. I was on the Butker bandwagon, but we know what happened. Yeah I'm derailing the thread my bad lol.

If Norv can resurrect our passing game and force defenses to actually respect it, our running game with Anderson and CMC could be deadly.

Add Cam and it goes up a level......

Not going to lie, I'm liking the stable of offensive weapons we're giving Cam to work with, but more than anything else, I'm excited that we have a new OC.  And an established OC at that.  That fact alone has me more excited than usual for the upcoming season.

I'm expecting a lot, and I think we're flying under the radar here.

At QB we a #1 overall pick and former NFL MVP.

We have a first round rb and added a thousand yard rusher from last year.

At TE, we have a Hall of Famer who is healthy and still in his prime.

At WR, we have a first round pick and 3 second round picks.

The skill positions are filled.

The line features multiple pro bowler Ryan Kalil, a right tackle who was second team All Pro last year, a right guard who has 3 straight Pro Bowl appearances, a former first round pick at LT, and a battle for LG that is going to be won by former 2nd round pick Moton.

If our LG and LT can just be average, this offense is loaded.  A lot of youth at the skill positions, but if they can develop into their potential,  this is a loaded offense.

And all that in the hands of a true offensive genius.

And assembled quietly while everyone lauds the Falcons and the Saints offense (and rightly so).

We could really surprise the world again this year, maybe not like the Super Bowl offense that shredded playoff teams, but close.

Man those 2015 season playoff games... So much fun. Our late season offense that year was so hot until we ran into those damn green dog blitzes. Ugh.

Do remember though that quite a lot of our 2015 offense was set up by our league- leading turnover machine D. All those short fields...

We do need to hope that we force more turnovers this season to add to our new weapons on Offense. If so.... sky's the limit.

Everyone always says we led the league in offense in 2015, when we really did not.  We lead the league in scoring in 2015 but if you look at our offense ranking is was kind of right in the middle of the pack. 17th I think.  But in the redzone, I think we were either 1st or 2nd in the NFL.  That's what made the difference.

I think Norv will do a much better job of designing pass protections and run schemes week to week based on who we're playing.

I always got the feeling that Shula came in with the same (nearly the same) plays and schemes every game - not taking into account what each defense did well. No OC worth a dam would ever have left Remmers one-on-one with Von Miller that often - particularly that close to your own goal line.

A good OC can mask some deficiencies in the o-line.

If you give Cam enough time, he'll kill you with his arm. And if you don't respect his ability to run, he can scorch you with his legs.

I am hoping that if R Kalil can stay healthy this year,  he will motivate his brother to above average performance.

Will Cam speak to the media anytime soon? This has to be his quietest offseason by far. Not even social media presence by him, not that it’s a bad thing.

I like this quite Cam he has a lot on his plate young kids and a Beastly new playbook so they say.

Good post this comment stood out to me, this is the Norv way of doing things. I read a article quoting LT saying Norv schemes up plays to attack the opponents weaker spots. For example he said he comes to Devin this week like your DB is struggling we are going to go to you this week, and then go out and do it so his players grow to trust him because he follows through with his plans.
