I wasn't being sarcastic. It's a gameplan not HC making changes in game. The OC is in charge of changes in game. Situational play calling is already planned pre-game. Rivera doesn't design this nor does he choose when it occurs. It's not the way he coaches.

Again, Rivera won't touch our offense. He has said time and time again, he lets his coaches do their jobs. He just the game impacting calls - such as "go for it" - "go for two" "onside kick" but he won't say "No, Norv it's 3 and long. Run the ball."

Lol I’m well aware.  That’s what I just said when I said Rivera will not be play calling. In addition, I said his stamp which is highly conservative. You just expounded on what I said.  “ taking his foot off the gas”

Byrd has no more PS eligibility.  A lot of people don't realize this is his fourth season coming up here.  I suppose we could stash him on IR with some made up injury if we wanted, but even that wouldn't make sense since his contract is up after the season.  This needs to be the season he comes good or gets cut.

I thought it was his Third season, he started in 2015.

2015 season . . . 2016 season . . . 2017 season . . . so 2018 will be his fourth.  Since he wasn't a first round pick his rookie deal only goes four years.

he wasn't drafted (the 4 year contract doesn't apply here)..... We re-signed him for one more year this past off season.

Damiere Byrd signed a 1 year, $630,000 contract with the Carolina Panthers, including an average annual salary of $630,000. In 2018, Byrd will earn a base salary of $630,000, while carrying a cap hit of $630,000.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. If you took that as me saying Rivera calls plays you are waaaay off. Every head coach has a stamp on the team. Every head coach does. It’s why the Eagles or even the Aints stay aggressive regardless of the score. Rivera wants a balanced attack led with an even stronger running game . Norv’s  is in agreement with that philosophy which is why he is here. Where Rivera can get in the way is taking his foot off the gas and asking theOC to play conservative with a lead. Hopefully now that we have an experienced play caller he steers clear of the offensive side of the ball as much as possible. Let Norv do his thing.

And please let Norv decide who plays left guard

Steve Smith was 5'9 185.... Byrd shares a similar build... yet smitty was himself injury prone.

There is No way Byrd is 185. I would be shocked if he was 170 tbh. I honestly couldn't care less how big he was if it wasn't a factor in durability concerns for him, but it seems like that isn't the case sadly.

Not saying that Samuels is not good but Byrd held his ground until injuries hit and Samuels was coming around as well until injuries hit. I say keep them all and give Cam more options on the field for a change. Both I believe are capable while learning from Smith and Wright next yr they will probably be gone.
