This is one of those mine field topics. Ideally, you take the time to formulate a position that explains that your goal of coaching to win college games also develops the players for the pro game. Much easier if you run a pro style offense, of course. I do think it has to help recruiting if your program turns out a lot of NFL draft picks, and high school kids don't want to hear that their prospective college coach doesn't care about their NFL dreams.

We've seen commentary that college programs aren't coaching the technique but spending the effort on schemes and strategy. We've heard Gettleman say it. This is just a guy being honest about the obvious. Non story.

college is for preparing students to be professionals. to not prepare them to be such is not doing their job.

He's coached his team to a 35-34 record during his tenure there. And until now, Washington State wasn't on our football radar. I'm not sure he's developing players for much there. 

Now if this were the head coach at Alabama, Oklahoma, Michigan or Stanford, then we'd have some controversy.
