New policy requires on-field players, personnel to stand for anthem

Benefit of the doubt, as you aren't an American... but if you were, you would know that the Constitution does not protect free speech at WORK.  They are employees... on the clock.  If you choose to be employed by the NFL, you have to follow their rules while on the clock, or face the consequences.

There are many, many people out there that don't understand this very simple concept.

THIS^^^.   The NFL is a club.  This isn't a business where anyone can get a job.   Players are fortunate enough to have the talent to be apart of this club.  All clubs have rules and by-laws.  When you join this club you agree to abide by the by-laws or in this case Amended by-laws and in return you get a huge paycheck.   If you don't want to abide by these by laws find another line of work and give up that fat paycheck.   This club knows that this lack of respect is hurting the league.  They are losing money and this is why.  Many fans are like me, they feel the players are disrespecting our country by kneeling and are giving up on the sport. Those that don't feel its an issue have the liberal mentality that being an American never came with a cost.  The same ones that believe burning the flag is an acceptable practice too.

I can tell you this, this isn't going to change when the CBA comes up.  The league will not be held hostage to players that want to kneel.

@ECUPantherFan noted.  You're on the clock. You want to protest. DO IT ON YOUR OWN TIME.

This is a fair compromise.   Fans will know you are protesting when they don't see you on the field.

Am I the only person that feels like this is a huge overstep by the NFL?  You may only protest in private out of sight? I mean isn’t that kind of the point of a protest? If I was an American I would have a HUGE problem with someone telling me this. This has turned from a social justice issue into a constitutional rights issue.

NFL is a private business. I can’t protest poo while on the clock at my job, makes sense that they can’t either. If they want to go protest and make a difference in their community off the clock then more power to them.

If they really don’t want to stand for the anthem, great, more power to you, go sit in the locker room until it’s wrapped up and then we will see you out on the field.

Literally best possible compromise for all parties.

It’s interesting that taking a knee during the national anthem, which really began with one person, who on the advice of a player/vet changed from sitting on the bench to kneeling peacefully is somehow an extremist.  The only reason that this became an extreme issue is because Trump decided to do what he’s done numerous times, distract and divide.  Then and only then did it become a national issue that the NFL has to deal with, and in my opinion, as soon as you capitulate to that type of nonsense, we all lose, because it’s hard for some to separate patriotism from all the other “isms” being thrown around by armchair sociologists.

Typical liberal response.  Blame it on the president.

This was a national discussion way before Trump chimed in. Let’s leave the politics to the tinderbox.

If you mean a post that was thought through and factual, then guilty as charged.  Not blaming, it’s the truth, whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

Not being political, well, maybe a little, but Kapernicks taking a knee had faded to almost a non-issue.  Enter Trump, calling the players SOBs, etc, and it became a huge effing deal again, and more players getting involved, and so on and so on.

The thing is.  It is no where near the truth.  This was a huge issue before President Trump said anything.  But go ahead and blame it on him.

I have a better idea: don't get your panties in a wad over what someone else does during the national anthem. The real failure of American freedom is our inability to allow others to practice theirs in a way we disagree with without feeling like we have to vehemently abuse ours in retaliation. And that is how all of our "freedoms" end up as a farce.

So now the cameras and analyst will discuss who is not on the field and stayed in the locker room.  "Distraction" aborted right? It was a hasty decision and even the owners said they don't have all the answers.... Now all the "I didn't vote for that rule" owners are coming out for fear of backlash

They gonna stop selling concessions and beer and stuff during the anthem?  Probably should, so the people selling nachos and pretzels can exercise their only societally accepted way of showing patriotism.  Fug the anthem and fug the trigger happy cops that ultimately started all of this.

I hate songs, especially due to self censorship.
