New policy requires on-field players, personnel to stand for anthem

I dont see the big deal. Players can still kneel for the anthem. They will simply be fined for it. I would say 25-50k fine is worth 60secs of nfl air time and hundreds of minutes re broadcasted and debated after. The rule only gives the NFL the illusion of being tough on the topic which some fans wanted to see.

When a white person is killed by a cop maybe all the white players will stay in the locker room. That would mean it would happen weekly lol.

lol    Our police force uses more deadly force then the rest of the civilized world.

Lol abound huh.

Someone mentioned a strike yesterday, this is what needs to happen.  Not just on the NFL level, but all black players on every level need to stop playing football and act on their power to get change in this country.  There is simply too much talking going on.  These wealthy white owners think they can boss their employees around and call them inmates?  They don't realize all of this can be shut down at will.  My only question is do the black players have the balls to make that kind of stand?  Would the wealthier black players be willing to help those who don't have a lot of money, to stay on their feet until change occur?  This is what is needed.

This may well be the case, but this will never, ever happen.

That's not enough. Every black citizen needs to strike in the country. Make whitey do all the work while we March. Probably should burn down a few stadiums and any store that carries whitey gear. We can make the government give us unemployment while we do this so we can eat and stuff. I mean who do they think they are trying to boss people around like they own stuff. We need to show all whiteys that just because you own something doesn't mean you can tell people what to do. That's slavery.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/ny-jets-co-owner-ill-pay-the-fines-for-my-players-who-kneel-during-anthem

Shortly after the NFL announced new rules punishing teams for kneeling on-field during the national anthem, New York Jets co-owner and chairman Christopher Johnson announced that he will cover any of his players’ fines should they decide to kneel. “Do I prefer that they stand? Of course. But I understand if they felt the need to protest,” Johnson told Newsday. “There are some big, complicated issues that we’re all struggling with, and our players are on the front lines. I don’t want to come down on them like a ton of bricks, and I won’t.” Owners agreed Wednesday to rules that allow players and personnel to stay in the locker room during the anthem, but if they are on-field they must stand or their team will be fined. “That’s just something I’ll have to bear,” Johnson said of having to pay out of pocket for his players’ kneeling.
