Tepper the biggest question unanswered?

Recommended Posts

Listening to Voth and Henson's podcast, I'm actually starting to get just the opposite impression.

Tepper talks heavily about community involvement and such. That usually goes hand in hand with players doing good things and being seen as role models.

Everybody expects Tepper to have high performance standards.  I'm now wondering if the character standards are gonna be high as well.

We won't change much until our front office changes.  Once the organization has a "Temper" vibe then we will see.  That could be as soon as 1 off season or possibly multiple.  Eventually we will begin making moves with Teppers guys and then we will see what his football brain trust's style is.  Its too easy to say "like the steelers."  Whats hard is accomplishing the success.

This topic has always confused me. How can a team that has been as been near the top of the league in player suspensions over the last decade (and more) be filled with choir boys? Mostly PED stuff but anyone that has followed this team over the last 20+ years would know that there is a very checkered past.  They have drafted and/or signed plenty of players over the years with character question marks. It's not like they are the bad boys of the NFL and I'm not trying to imply that but this organization has never been filled with choir boys.

JR/Panthers got burned by by Carruth.  I can certainly understand how something like that going down would make you shy away from any and all "question marks" that players my possess.

Did Carruth have any flags coming out?

He has been heavily critical of Trump's lack of philanthropy and also touched on charitable work in the commencement speech so I suspect he is going to have the organization involved in quite a bit of community charitable works. That does tend go along with high character players but I wonder what his personal standards are going to be. Someone that had weed charges in college doesn't imply they are of poor character, IMO. Maybe he will be a little less unforgiving about some of the mistakes these guys make in HS or college.

I hope so. Not every player that has some issues are necessarily bad guys. Sometimes poo just happens.

Richardson and Tepper are from different generations.  I think that will have an affect on how the two will value character and image differently.  I doubt we become a team known for taking chances on guys that fall in the draft due to "off the field issues," but I can certainly see cases where Tep could be less likely to write a guy off before JR would.

I think the bigger change would be in the office.  Of the few comments he has made to date one of his points have been about gender and race equality.  Could we see more women in the front office?

If we do the usual suspects here will make the usual sexist comments.
