Possible changes to anthem guidelines

I'm sure all the vets who served their country but now live in a refrigerator box in a back alley because of basically non-existent VA are thrilled to know if a black guy doesn't stand for the anthem, his team will be fined in their honor. Thank you NFL for literally putting forth the least amount of effort possible to show absolutely meaningless support for our troops.

POLICY STATEMENT

The 32 member clubs of the National Football League have reaffirmed their strong commitment to work alongside our players to strengthen our communities and advance social justice. The unique platform that we have created is unprecedented in its scope, and will provide extraordinary resources in support of programs to promote positive social change in our communities.

The membership also strongly believes that:

1. All team and league personnel on the field shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.

2.The Game Operations Manual will be revised to remove the requirement that all players be on the field for the Anthem.

3. Personnel who choose not to stand for the Anthem may stay in the locker room or in a similar location off the field until after the Anthem has been performed.

4. A club will be fined by the League if its personnel are on the field and do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.

5. Each club may develop its own work rules, consistent with the above principles, regarding its personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.

6. The Commissioner will impose appropriate discipline on league personnel who do not stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem.

It seems the NFL is punishing the team itself instead of the player involved to circumvent the NFLPA to have any say in the matter.  I'm not a lawyer but it also seems that it would have to be the team itself to dispute a fine since the player who kneels is not actually punished but the team the player plays for.

This is going to divide locker rooms and certainly is going to make owner/player relationships even more volatile.

Ditto.

I bet almost all of the snowflake phony captain Americas on here crying “U BETTERZ STAND FOR DA NATIONAL ANTHEMZ” have done very little themselves to help returning troops that are more fuged up than a $3 bill and need financial, psychological, and physical assistance   .

It just reaffirms my belief that the real issue isn’t the actual protest - it’s the color of the person doing it.

actually they learned that fans don't want to see some agitator spewing his personal politics out there during our National Anthem when they want to see a football game

So we should get rid of the anthem, right? Problem solved! No one wants to see that stuff, they want to see a football game

Do whatever they want,  just not on the job....do not care how it is fixed, as long as it is fixed.

"Do whatever you want to as long as I don't have to see it or think about it."

This is the whole point of doing it the way they do.

Besides Eric Reid, was there really anyone else kneeling? Players weren’t really doing it anymore.

Now, Trump will say something and it’ll be back on.

Rischard Matthews - Titans.

He had a brother KIA in either Afghanistan or Iraq. RIP. Another one of the many examples, albeit a sad one, that these players are not protesting military.

Then fine the players and send the money to the players projects. The players don't seem to mind the league losing money. Then they could put some money in the agenda.

They are on the job. They are being paid to play a game for the paying customer. It is not a platform for political agendas. It alienates have the customer base, who just want a few hours of peace and relaxation.

If ONLY you felt this passionately about the well being of combat vets when they come home, or the mistreatment of people of color by police officers.
