PFF Says the likes of Dak Prescott, Marcus Mariota, and Tyrod Taylor + 2 more are better running quarterbacks than Cam

That's pretty much my problem with a lot of what is going on in this thread in general. No one is actually taking the time to try and understand what half of these graphics even mean. For instance, the one you posted isn't even a subjective measure. That is an actual statistic that anyone can compute. That isn't even something that a reasonable person could possibly dispute.

The PFF grades are viewed similarly. People just react without any thought or even attempt to see what they are actually trying to accomplish with their grading system. It's actually fairly sophisticated, albeit still completely subjective.

I watch a lot of football games and I have a pretty solid understanding of statistics and mathematical analysis from my professional career. I know when rankings don't match up with what I'm watching and I know how easy it is to lead yourself down a rabbit hole over-analyzing numbers.

It's pretty obvious that PFF overthinks a lot of stuff while trying to show everyone how much smarter they are than everyone else about football.

Yeah but the big difference is that you didn't watch every single snap of all of those players and attempt to quantify their performances. In fact, none of us here likely watched every single snap of all of those players this past season. That's....actually kind of unreasonable or obsessive for anyone who doesn't do that as a profession.

So, I think what you are talking about is more your general opinion based on a much smaller set of data. That doesn't necessarily invalidate it but you have to admit that it isn't nearly as good of a measuring stick as PFF has, based on data set alone. And they aren't over analyzing numbers, they are actually creating them. That's why it's a grading system. We can all look at the raw rushing statistics of the QB's in the league and make judgement on what they mean. They are attempting to quantify per play performances and then adjust for trends.

The link I provided from their site freely states that their grading system is likely to have instances where it differs from raw statistics. Hence why their grading system is not just a list of most rushing yards for QB's.

They're not "creating" the numbers. The stats are the stats. Their opinions are their opinions. The only thing they're creating is their rating system based on the metrics they prefer.

Fans love to poo on Madden ratings, but in essence, they're creating their own Madden ratings.

Yeah, they are actually creating numbers. Go read the explanation of their system.

At some level, I am sure the Madden ratings might even have been an inspiration.

I think you all are going of Cams yards and not seeing what they're talking about. Under Shula, we ran Cam... A lot... As the primary runner, so there's where the majority of his yards come from. I think ,IMO, his article is referring to running as a passer, aka, scrambling when a play breaks down .I could be wrong, but I never we're homer goggles and assume everyone is trashing Cam

Then they should have only used Cam's numbers when he scrambled.  Of course if you include his designed runs his YPC are going to go down

I don't even have to ask however, if you asked who would you rather see running the ball at you.  Cam or any one of those clowns most defenders are going to go with anyone but Cam.  Cam is a beast when he runs and I can only imagine the Oh Shyt going through the minds of a DB have to try and tackle him.

Even though Cam amassed more yards than all of them on the ground? And also has more career rushing yards than all of them.

In general, people are going to be down on cam until he proves he can be a consistently efficient passer. I know this isnt the point of the thread , but in general people's main arguements against Cam being one of the top 10 QBs is that his passing efficiency his been extremely erradic in the past 2 seasons and they view 2015 as a fluke/outlier because he hasnt come close to that performance since then

He hasn't gotten back to his 2015 performance is because of being headhunted since then and he is not enthused on getting those hits he has been getting and most have been purposely done to put him out of the game. Cam is trying to not get demolished anymore.

THE ACCURACY!

Yes. Because we know no other fan base is protective of their QB.

Post some random subjective list of the most accurate QBs in the NFL, and leave Brees completely off it, and let’s see how the Saints fans react. Or an all-time list of QBs with Brees around 30. That would go over well.

I feel like you're being a bit dramatic.

Well. You’re on another teams board, which I have no problem with and have shown you that respect many times. But you’re acting like we should just not even disagree with a bogus, subjective opinion piece. How do you think your fellow Saints fans, and yourself, would act if I went on their board and defended someone “disrespecting” Brees. Not dramatic. Just reality.
