PFF Says the likes of Dak Prescott, Marcus Mariota, and Tyrod Taylor + 2 more are better running quarterbacks than Cam

I think that Seattle is the only team on that list that wouldn't necessarily trade their guy for Cam in a heartbeat, and the others would probably throw in picks as well.

Cowboys fans might pretend like they wouldn't but really they would.  Every Dallas fan I know has this dislike for Cam.  Not sure why.

My assumption is because Cam is often used as a power back that sometimes results in minimal gains whereas all those other QBs do most of their running as scramblers rather than designed run plays, and because they run on pass plays their scrambles are more effective.

Even though Cam amassed more yards than all of them on the ground? And also has more career rushing yards than all of them.

In general, people are going to be down on cam until he proves he can be a consistently efficient passer. I know this isnt the point of the thread , but in general people's main arguements against Cam being one of the top 10 QBs is that his passing efficiency his been extremely erradic in the past 2 seasons and they view 2015 as a fluke/outlier because he hasnt come close to that performance since then.

What's really sad about it is when compared to Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, and others, Cam is only 1 or 2% in difference but you don't see folks talking about that. He's just "not an efficient passer" without context. It's rather ridiculous. Not you, per se, but the overall notion that he's a terrible passer through and through from the pundits.

PFF isn't yards and TDs. If it was, they wouldn't be needed. Forced missed tackles, yards after contact, making the right cut/hitting the right hole, gaining yards that weren't given. All of these things go into their grades.

3 of those guys had higher YPC. All of them had fewer attempts. Sounds like your guy isn't first, so the grading is wrong lol.

There is an awful lot of misguided butthurt in this thread for not really breaking down what makes up their grading system. Cam is an awesome QB and I am happy has hell to have him but he doesn't have to be #1 in everything all the time for me to appreciate him as a player.

Try and take a breath people.

Cam Newton is tied for 60th all-time in most rushing TDs by any player, including running backs. He has more rushing TDs than any Panther ever, including DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. If he scores his average number of rushing TDs this season, he'll surpass the number of TDs by O.J. Simpson and Herschel Walker. Depending on how much he'll continue to pound from the goal line as he moves into his 30s, he has a decent shot of ending his career in the Top 25 rushing TDs all-time...as a quarterback.

The stats are only for 2017. While he may had more yards, TDS and attempts he didn’t lead in Yards per attempt. Other things to consider are:

how many fumbles each QB had, how many negative yard plays he had and how many kneel downs he had which does affect YPA.

Cam still would be in the top 3 in YPA.

The next time one of those other QBs run up the middle on 3rd or 4th and 1 will Be the first. Easy to have an impressive YPC when all your yards are from scrambles or read options.

  But context is overrated right?

Lol any objective NFL fan would call bullcrap on whatever analysis that graded Cam worse than these 5 quarterbacks.

Then again, coming from the guy who'd rather have Cameron Jordan over Julius Peppers in their respective primes, it's not surprising you'd disagree lol.

Well, this shows how bad PFFs grading system can be.

Cam has more wins than all of them except he is three behind Wilson. And Wilson played in the cupcake NFC West vs Cam in the powerhouse NFC South.
