Nope. Just thought you did an excellent job describing yourself.

For the record, I haven't met Richardson either. I don't have any first hand knowledge of how he carries himself other than the people that have been around him.

You, there is plenty of evidence on the Huddle that supports what you said, if applied to yourself.

Lol

I don't see anything wrong with him showing up, yes what he did was very wrong. However, he is still respecting the league and handing over the reigns in a professional manner. If he didn't show, it would just prove that he is a coward, or disrespectful.

like this is a morally ambiguous issue at all

So proper punishment for some borderline senile 80+ year old dropping 1 n-word (that’s all that has been reported and if this was a common thing it would come out easily) is to make him sell the franchise? I’m not condoning the behavior including the sexual harassment (if the allegations are true which is questionable) however it’s all been blown significantly out of proportion. That’s what I’m saying is wrong to some and right to others. Not the alleged behavior.

Right, it would have been damn near unthinkable that the 22nd largest metro area in the US could have ever gotten one of 32 teams if not for Mister.

I said this before.

Jacksonville and Carolina 29 and 30...... When they awarded 31 and 32 it went to two cities that lost teams. Cleveland and Houston both bigger markets than Carolina.   If it weren't for the amazing presentation Jerry put together we would be sitting there like San Antonio and Memphis wondering when the NFL will expand again.  The first time I heard about Carolina in the running we were a freaking footnote to the process, a darkhorse, an after thought.  So the narrative that we would eventually have a team is B.S.  You may hate Jerry but if you love our Panthers like I believe you do.  You should be grateful.

You can't change their minds, as they know Richardson not only personally, but intimently, and all big cities deserve a NFL franchise.

Some of you guys act like he murdered someone... LOL

Nobody is acting like he murdered anyone. Him using racial slurs and sexually harassing employees is a big deal, though, no matter how small you and a select few think it’s not.

Chances are, if it is reported that he threw the N-word around once, he threw it around multiple times. What comes out of a man's mouth originates in his heart. We're not talking a kid here, we're talking a man that has lived eight decades, through Jim Crow and the Civil rights struggle. For me, once is enough. I could possibly have some pity for the guy if he had a George Wallace epiphany and was apologetic, but between that, other things I've read about the culture of some of his businesses early on, and the perv stuff, I am glad that he will no longer be in the picture of my favorite team.

And for all those trying to insinuate that he is innocent, I call "pure bullshit!" Richardson isn't selling his team because he wants to, he is selling it because there is some fire behind that smoke.

You don't know the damn truth, all of you need to learn to wait before you make all these assumptions.

Also, I don’t think it’s a big deal he’s showing up at the meetings. He should, IMO. No matter what I feel of his past transgressions, Jerry was the owner of the Panthers and was key in bringing them here. Let him see his baby onto a new owner.

I’m not going to get into the witch hunt comment, because some of these same posters would be right along for the witch hunt, if it was anyone but Jerry Richardson, but no, I have no issues with Jerry being at the meetings.

Before you come angrily attacking me, I hope you take your own advice with every individual.

There’s an SI piece where the young lady attacked provides evidence, and speaks on the scout being called the n word. You just don’t a.) want to believe it, or 2.) like many of your other peers in here, don’t think it’s a big deal. Either way, that’s not my problem. The truth is out there, though.

Dawg if he was throwing around the n-word or any other racial slurs you can be damn sure that would have come out by now. I don’t know what the man’s thoughts are, maybe he is a total racist. But one slipping of the n-word is hardly a true indicator of that. People often say things they don’t mean and regret. Considering it’s just 1 time reported I’d give him the benefit of the doubt on that one. No other allegations of any other racist behavior ever in his life...

As for why he’s selling it, for most others I’d agree with your reasoning but there are a couple factors that you’re not taking into account. Biggest is when in JR’s history with the league has he made any decision whatsoever that wasn’t in the best interest of the league as a whole, rather than his or the Panthers own interest? I can’t think of any at all. So why would he change that now? Whether he’s innocent or guilty if he fought it that would be a black eye on the league and JR knew that.

Another main reason is his frail health. I’m not so sure he would be up for that fight anyways. The stress of it with many likely legal battles and days in court could literally kill a guy in his condition.

I agree that he doesn’t want to sell it. That doesn’t mean he’s guilty though, he may just see selling as his best option at this point and also the only option for the league’s well being.

I'm just ready to move on from  Richardson. I don't have a problem with him making a final appearance and hopefully making an effort for the league to move on towards Tepper. We need the league to move on from the Panthers having any involvement in this mess. I don't want any penalties or fines levied on us.
