The Rice incident heavily weighed on the punishment Hardy received but he wasn’t an innocent bystander. Panthers management had previous discussions with him regarding the types of people he was surrounding himself with. They knew he was a loose cannon who was running with a bad crowd. It’s a big part of the reason why he was tagged instead of signed long term. At the end of the day, Hardy created the situation that got him on the commissioner’s exempt list. He still got another shot and he didn’t capitalize on it. End of story. Trying to make him out to be some tragic figure who was merely a victim of circumstance is fuging ridiculous.
