5 REASONS WHY WE LOST TO THE SAINTS

The game would have been totally different if Kaelin Clay catches that first touchdown pass, and if we didnt allow that 80+ yard TD to Ginn.  Thats literally a two TD swing right there.

Biggest reasons we lost the playoff game were secondary and WR drops/not getting open enough.  The defense actually did much better in the 3rd contest in stopping Ingram and Kamara from running wild.

I think we did really well in the offseason in trying to address some of the problems. I still have concerns about Saftey and Oline, but its reassuring that we have a good infusion of talent on both sides of the ball .

And Aints fans could find dozens of reasons they made mistakes in those games as well just like this thread is trying to do.

Good teams win and lose. Simple as that. All that matters is that you get enough wins to make the Playoffs and have a shot

Yep and last year was their chance to go to the Super Bowl if the don't give up that miracle td. I'm so glad they lost, and the way they lost will affect them this year. We will dominate them this year, when you lose a game like that it's hard. Sorry Taints!

How about the Gano shank?  That was glorious too. And also Coleman bouncing off Kamara like a pin ball. That one game is why we cut him IMO. Also why we drafted Gaulden.  I think they want a guy in the secondary who can actuallly tackle Kamara and Freeman.

We didn’t deserve to win that game with that roster.  The better team won. Let’s hope this year is a different story.

Whether our O-line is worse remains to be seen. Overall, I think that if it is that much worse, I think that Turner will better be able to scheme around a weakness.

I absolutely and unequivocally believe that our secondary is that much better. Some of y'all obviously don't realize just how bad we were and have obviously never seen Cockrell or Searcy play. And this is not to say that the secondary will be all-world, but that it will at least be a believable NFL unit.

And I absolutely and unequivocally believe our line is worse. And yes we have seen Searcy and Crockrell play, they’re both mediocre secondary players and teams will target them.

Gaining players who’ve never played for the panthers make the secondary better but losing the best Gaurd in the league’s effect on the oline is yet to be seen?

I can’t see it any other way than the oline got worse, especially run blocking. This worries me as it already wasn’t great. The secondary, I believe is slightly better but the safety issue is still a huge need.

Even if they are "mediocre secondary players," I will take that considering what we've had the last couple of years. Furthermore, Jackson and Elder are unknowns, but there's reason to be encouraged (especially in Jackson's case). Moreover, the book isn't finished on Bradberry.

Warning!  This is hard to rewatch. Clay dropping balls.  Bersin getting tackled by the turf monster. Wtf.  Oh and I forgot about Adams wonderful interception that he should have batted down.  And nothing but Fg’s in the first half.

Brees seemed to connect with like 32 different receivers. Us?  Funch, Olsen, and CMC. I sure hope Norv can create more options with the new guys that this sorry show of receiving talent.

That was incredible, easily one of the best analysis videos I’ve seen, confirms to me though that both Atlanta and New Orleans have been giving us trouble with zone blocking centres out maneuveing star for the last couple of years. Slightly annoying that we couldn’t squeeze that last game out the bag but was entertaining watching the Saints fail so miserably in Minnesota.

thanks for posting this vid.

Star was a slightly above average DT. For once we lost a good player and replaced them with a great one. Poe and KK prob are the most athletic DT duo in the league. They will cause fits for OCs.

Speaking of field goals... I can't remember 100 percent but pretty sure in that last Saints game Gano I missed a FG early..if made it would have had us right in position to kick the game winner.

Then again, right after that miss he later came back and hit a 56-58 yard kick.

A lot of missed opportunities... Klay drop....Funchess failed foot plant, etc..

Also, iirc The falcon beat us that undefeated season then twice the next year. We have the blueprint...we just have to execute.
