Any prolonged injury at LB we are fuggged...plus DE is weak for the same reason. thats my main worry...If Cam can't gedder done with what he has available...welllll...its a problem with the line...but at least he has something to work with...realistically ....  we have some stuff...that could be dangerous...if the chips fall right..

Im strong with introverted intuition.. if you know what that is, cool, if not, idc and neither do you..

I see potential.  If i see potential, im not saying it will come into frution..   hard to describe but i can pit things into a pinacle without explanation    I could write out my resoning but its too much time and effort

anyway..  heres my ideas about our rosters.. i differ from a few different very good posters. We are all on a spectrum with different gifts and insights, put those together collectivly and you have a whole.

theres my gnostic message of the day

onto the rosters

QB. Better.     Norv Turner and the fire burning in Cam with unfinished buisness

HB. Better.     2nd year CMC with a brilliant offensive mind calling plays, add in a proven slippery bolling ball who rushed for 1000 yards last year

WR.    Better.     Funchess, will be a stud this year. Samuel is on the feild in a great offense, vet presence legit deep threat in smith ( fug it. Send him in a streak every play.  Toos of defenses will be off, even if thats all it does) AND add in the best WR in this class, beloved by steve smith.

TE.   Same, with potential to be better.    Olsen is still olsen. Hes a technition. He may drop off but not this year, he also has that fire of unfinished buisness in him. Add in norv, which i think elevates everyone by a letter grade, i like. I think Thomas is the perfect guy to groom benieth him.

OL.   Better WILL BE ELEVATED GREATLY BY A COMPETENT MIND AND PLAY CALLER.  No longer are the over conplicated run schemes or pass plays that take 4-5 secs just for cam to be able to diagnose. Plug in moton at LG i dont think we skip a beat. Kalil, stability, heathly. Better. Young tre turner in a good offense and scheme. Better.  Williams, same as turner, better. Matt kalil, no more 4-5 second developing plays, ball out faster, yac guys, play makers..  better.

Better

the whole offense is better and elevated with a genius and innovator at OC. Say what you want at HC about him, hes back to his best spot as OC with us.

Defense..  im lazy so ill keep it short. CB better... ozzing with potential. Theres vets in the secondary too. DL, fugin studs. DTs are best in league, DEs lead by the goat panther of all time. Some VERY SKILLED youth oozing with potential with HALL (dont give up on the next man up because he has several really good players that need to be on the feild, including a 11 sack 38 HOF ahead of him.  Hall is that delicious slow cooker meal)

saftey..

im worried. I HOPE adams stays healthy and doesnt fall off a cliff.  The dude from tenesse is ok.. we have a rookie we really seem to like..  its a weak spot, with several FA still on the market.. and cuts..

lets take a sec to think about the FA on the market..  they want more than what they are worth. I cant name them off the top of my head but theres five names that are just sitting there

they want money, 32 teams saying “nah brah”

point is..

WE HAVE A fugIN STUD ASS FRONT 7.

i love star, but with Poe, we have an ELITE interior pass rush that will make our DEs shine even more.

If..  IFFF.   The pass rush it dialed up where it needs to be, the long deep passes with be few and far invetween.  We have the skill guys as CB to deal with quick passes..  potentially..

the biggest factor in play here is the removal of richardson and enter Tepper

i think richardson is a curse imo

hopefull for our first back to back 10+ win team

pie me i spent too much time on this i should have been resuplying my coke lock up on GTAV

I think most of the areas of need were addressed.  Below are my answers with comments

  • Wide Receiver  YES We have added some playmakers and should have our others back from injury.
  • Tight End YES Though Thomas is a rookie he's a good blocker but a better pass catcher than Dickson
  • Offensive Tackle SAME
  • Guard SAME  (Guard and Tackle really depends on where Moton plays) What I am hoping for is that someone steps up at Guard and Moton moves out to LT)
  • Center SAME (This might not be a good thing if Kalil goes down again)
  • Quarterback NO (Cam will be Cam and if he remains healthy it is SAME but if he goes down we have no one who has even taken a snap during the regular season)
  • Running back YES CJ is an upgrade over Stewart (who I still think will have a good year) CMC
  • Offensive coordinator YES YES YES I think this is our best acquisition of the off-season.  Turner will make huge difference in our offense.  I think we added all the pieces he likes in an offense.
  • general  manager SAME I am taking this as Hurney was here last season.  If you are talking this time last year.  I would have said YES
  • Defensive Tackle YES The swap of POE for STAR is an upgrade.  I liked STAR but Poe is better at what STAR did.
  • Defensive End YES JP and Addison are the same but I think we are going to have good core of young guys that will fill the rotation better than last year.
  • Outside Linebacker SAME Though TD will be down for 4 games I think we added a nice pieces in Carter and Smith
  • Inside Linebacker SAME Luke stays healthy this position doesn't get better.  Mayo is a good fill in.  So no change from last year.
  • Nickel Too Early to Tell
  • Cornerback Too Early to Tell Both Nickel and CB are filled with talent.  It will be up to the coaches to get a good group.  Overall I feel pretty good about the CB position.
  • Safety  SAME Like Center this could be a bad thing.  It will depend mostly on Gaulden progress. If he picks up his assignments quickly.  We actually might be better.
  • defensive coordinator YES I liked Wilks but I think he put his scheme above what he had.  I think Washington will be a level headed coach who will be aggressive but not overly aggressive like Wilks was.

THIS!

You'd think we were trash last season, but we did very well without several of our key pieces (KB, the good Kalil, Greg, Byrd) and nearly all of our rookies on IR. I think we've upgraded every position but LG and Safety, and Safety may be a push as poorly as Coleman played last season.

Sometimes you can have a bench player that was thought as nothing more than a back up who when given time to prove himself l is a pro bowler. Look at Norwell, Josh Norman, look at who Jake Delhomme was when he signed with Carolina. Who knows who we have who could end up doing well with just a chance to get on the field.

ARE WE BETTER AT...

  • Wide Receiver - Yes, Funch is healthy with a new mindset as the WR1, DJ Moore, Torrey Smith solidifies our speed guys, all the young guys are coming back with another year of learning.
  • Tight End - Yes, Greg is healthy hopefully, Ian Thomas looks like someone who can become a legit threat.
  • Offensive Tackle - No, nothing has really changed here. Maybe some depth shakes out or we see anything from Moton, but otherwise it's a mixed bag back from last year.
  • Guard - No, Norwell was an All Pro, even if we pull out a legit starter it'll still see a drop off. We have a good competition for the spot and I expect LG will be filled by a solid starter. Turner is still great, needs a good year here.
  • Center - Maybe, we've got our starter and a back-up with much of a full season as a starter, plus other competition in the mix.
  • Quarterback - Yes, Cam gets a full healthy offseason to train with his guys, he's got more talent around him, and a great new OC to learn from.
  • Running back - Yes, CMC is a stud and I think we see him improve this year. CJ Anderson is low key our best signing this FA. CAP is gonna get his shot. I feel confident in the stable of backs here.
  • Offensive coordinator - YES, big time. We've given him a mess of talent to play with and Ron is giving him the keys.
  • general  manager - Yes, I believe in Gettleman's philosophy, but he had his own super bowl hangover that really hurt us. Some of his picks have been busts, but there's still a nice group of guys he found for us who are gonna be solid building blocks here. Hurney has done a great job so far and I think he has the benefit of learning from Gettleman at a distance and fixing some of Gettleman's personality mistakes.
  • Defensive Tackle - Yes, Poe is an upgrade over Star, everyone else is solid. Excited to see the rookie Norton, I think he can make the rotation.
  • Defensive End - Yes, Peppers and Addison a great. CJ was wasting snaps and I think he was an addition by subtraction here. If Hall is healthy, I think he might show some positive flashes.
  • Outside Linebacker - No, no changes here, TD being out 4 games is no good, but I believe in Shaq to fill that void nicely.
  • Inside Linebacker - No, Luke is Luke, Mayo is a good back up.
  • Nickel - Yes, Elder coming in should be a shot in the arm. Other guys, like Jackson might spend some time there which will be great.
  • Cornerback - Yes, Cockrell will push Bradberry, Jackson will inject some attitude and speed, Seymor gets a full offseason on the team, we've got guys who can match up well against any kind of WR and the competition for CB 1 and 2 should be strong.
  • Safety - Maybe, Coleman was a product, but great guy. Adams out played him last year. Searcy will be a solid guy while Gaulden gets up to speed.
  • defensive coordinator - Yes, I think Washington will give us the best iteration of the Rivera defense yet. He has some new tools and he's seen how other ideas have played out in the system.

  • Wide Receiver  YES
  • Tight End NO - I don't think we did for at least the first half of the season. I'm expecting some growing pains from Thomas. Meanwhile, Olsen is a year older and might have a lingering injury concern.

  • Guard NO
  • Center SAME (except for declining health and increasing age)
  • Quarterback SAME
  • Running back YES

  • Defensive End NO
  • Outside Linebacker SAME

Tired of seeing the same threads, so thought I would create one that should sum up the offseason so far:

Your answer choices will be yes, no, same, or too early to tell.

ARE WE BETTER AT...

  • Wide Receiver...yes
  • Tight End...yes
  • Offensive Tackle...No clue...hopefully Kalil putting in the work needed to improve
  • Guard...No
  • Center...same
  • Quarterback...same
  • Running back...yes
  • Offensive coordinator...absolutely
  • general  manager...same
  • Defensive Tackle...yes
  • Defensive End...same
  • Outside Linebacker...same
  • Inside Linebacker...yes
  • Nickel...yes
  • Cornerback...yes
  • Safety...yes
  • defensive coordinator...no

Take into consideration:

last season we lost our #1 WR (trade), had lengthy injuries to Olsen and Kalil.  We started (most of the time) Charles Johnson, Jonathan Stewart, and Russell Sheperd.

We lost a Pro Bowl Guard, backup TE, backup QB

We placed DE D. Hall, S D. Cox, WR Samuel, and CB Elder on IR for at least part of the season.  All should make the roster this year.

We added, through the draft, a WR and CB who should make an immediate impact.  A S and TE who may contribute sooner more than later.

The Panthers won 11 games last year.
