The most UNDER-whelming Highlight video of All-TIME

Not really sure what OP was going for with this thread.

plays at :50 and :57 are not even highlights.. and to put this reel to a song saying "You will remember me for centuries!!!" is funny because i won't remember a single play in that Highlight reel..

I remember Smitty saying it irritated him when a WR beats a CB and the WR drops the ball and the CB will jump up and signal an incomplete pass or cross his arms with swag - when they literally did nothing to stop that play.. I'm not saying this is the case in this vid - but it just reminded me of that statement..

I understand he wasn't out-of-position and had some really good pass breakups against some Vet WRs - but when I want to see a CB's highlights - you would at least want to see 1 INT, right?

It was just very underwhelming.. that is all..

I’m not saying it is a disqualifier. It’s not. All I’m saying is that you simply can’t make any judgement on the matter one way or the other like the previous poster was attempting to do.

You sure as hell can make a judgement that someone who graduates from Duke is mentally capable. That's what getting a degree is all about. I mean, why is it a requirement to get certain jobs? Why do people even go to college? Cockrell went to Duke. It's a good school. He got TWO DEGREES. But I guess we "can't make judgements on the matter one way or the other" because you said so. Great logic.

Turn your emotion down several notches and go back and actually read through what I typed and try to argue against it.

Okay, I'll re-read.

What I’m saying is that going to a good school as an athlete is much different than going to that same school as a regular student. You’re ushered right through the admissions process and have access to a ton of tutors to make sure you stay eligible. Sure, there are very bright college athletes, but the “he went to duke” thing isn’t an automatic qualifier by any means.

So I'm curious what would you have said if instead of saying "He went to Duke", I said "He graduated from Duke."

From what I can tell you took what I said and extrapolated an assumption based on my wording. And as you've already been made aware, you can't just assume that because someone is a student athlete, they didn't actually get an education. There is literally nothing to prove that in Ross Cockrell's case, which was my original point. I said he went to good schools, and should be able to pick up the playbook and play in position, which is an improvement over what the Panthers have had at the position recently. I really don't see how you can continue debating that with semantics.

There’s only one person here who is assuming anything. My entire argument is that there’s no assumptions to be made due to heavily preferential admissions and the wealth of tutoring resources available to keep D1 scholarship athletes academically eligible.

Every major D1 has it’s “jock majors”. They’re sociology, psychology, and political science at duke in that order. Virtually no non-athletes major in sociology or psychology.

You're not making assumptions...but you assume "virtually no non-athletes major in sociology or psychology"?? I knew numerous non-athletes in college who majored in both of those things. I dated a girl who graduated with a psychology degree.
