I’ll be in Charlotte Tomorrow Afternoon

This is one of the worst breweries in Charlotte. Their setup sucks and so does their beer. Brass tap next door is a better hangout than WR.

Wooden Robot does actually make some good beer. I would have suggested some others, maybe. Heist, Salud, Resident Culture, etc.

We werent exaclty thrilled with the atmosphere. We got there at like 2pm and the places was packed. Super packed. People acting like idiots and I’m in my early 30s and we felt like we were the oldest people there. Not my scene.

PS the only beer I got there wasn’t good, either. Forgot what it was called.

Yeah, I can understand that. They do some very good sours and some solid IPA's as well. I have been seeing some of their sours start popping up in the beer trading scene, so their name is starting to get out there in that world.

I haven't done a Charlotte brewery tour in a while, I need to roll down there because there are a lot of good spots popping up that I haven't been to.

It’s to the point now that I’m basically done with craft beer. With a few exceptions. The hangovers I get from them are awful. I went to Olde Meck a month ago and started slamming their Frubach and has to force myself to get off the couch the next day after eating 4 Advil. I’m to the point now where I just have a few drinks and that’s it.

Anyone want to join me for beers and lunch? Driving North from Miami and in Savannah for the night. Any great breweries/BBQ joints that I could grab lunch at with some Panther fans? I need to kill a few hours in the Queen City tomorrow afternoon so any recommendations or ideas are welcome.

Go to Heist. If you like NEIPA's, their current tap list is stupid. Uberquenchl, Citraquenchl, Not From Concentrate, Blurred is the Word, MO-J. Great, great stuff. They have a very good blackberry berliner style weisse. Great mouthfeel. Nailed the heavily fruited kettle style, IMO.

Wooden Robot has a solid lineup currently but nothing to write home about. Mainly some good sours and a few above average IPA's.

Salud has a good beer list currently, mostly good NEIPA's. They do have a good milkshake style IPA, if you are into that trend. Also, they have a bottle shop attached with some guest taps that are pretty awesome. Mexican Cake on tap currently among other really good options(some Heist is on tap, some Fonta Flora).

Resident Culture has some more very good IPA's and kettle sours but I don't think they open until 3 PM.

Divine Barrel I have not been to but have heard good things. Looking through their tap list, it looks like they have some solid saisons and kettle sours available.

High Branch is in Concord but what little from them I have had, I have been pretty impressed with. I don't see their tap list up, so I don't know what they have right now. It would be more of a gamble. Also, they don't open until 4 pm.

Well you can't exactly slam a lot of the craft beers because they are higher ABV in a lot of cases. Plus, the older you get, the higher that hangover penalty is no matter what you are drinking. I am pretty heavily involved in the craft beer world, so I enjoy it quite a bit but it's funny how a lot of the people operate(myself included), you rarely see a lot of "full pour" orders. If I have a 4-6 oz pour option available to me, I will take that every time. I would rather "taste" a bunch of beer rather than try to hammer down 7-8 pints, end up trashed, beer logged or worse.

I like sours that's why I like it.  Most breweries have a douchey crowd.  I went to lenny boy the other day,  it wasn't bad

    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
    • This KC team isn't the juggernaut it once was.  How many one score games have they won this season?  How many of those one score wins would probably have been loses if Mahomes wasn't the QB?  Their secondary is vulnerable and it was obvious today.  Grandpa Thielen was able to get open at will all game long. Bryce played well, but thinking this is the exact same KC defense Young was able to move the ball against as last year isn't going to compute.  Last year's KC defense was #2 overall.  They have regressed. I've said it before, Bryce can move the ball before the red zone, but once there, he struggles.  He is not a threat with his legs and the passing windows get much tighter.  He's not turning the ball over, so that is a great place to start and build upon.  I still question much better he can get.  Beyond a game manager?  I highly doubt it.
