I don’t love the thought but I’m prepared to risk it based on principles and common sense.

The 15+ million people in the Carolinas should be talking about luring the A’s or Rays now instead of losing the Panthers over a TOOTHLESS threat.

Why do I get the feeling the vote will go according to party lines?

Well, despite the Observer’s hard-on for it, we’re a long way from even having a proposal, much less a vote.  Hard to say which way the local political winds will blow at that time but rest assured the outrage from the public will be loud and fierce.

We would absolutely have that problem on game day.  A new stadium likely runs off your psl base. I can’t imagine people will be lining up to fork over $10,000 for a seat license to a new stadium while there other one is now null and void.

If he wants to ask Charlotte for money, the stadium better be in Charlotte and not SC. Would be dumb for us to pay money and SC get all the revenue....

There's a solution to this:

He will have both states lining up to throw money at him like a stripper at a frat party.  You watch.

Get the NFL and both states to chip in some amount. 1.5 billion dollars for a new stadium splits evenly into 375 million dollar chunks. That's pretty palatable for all parties involved.

Put the stadium near Carowinds with the 50yard line resting on the state line so that both states in particular have an investment in the project, and guarantee that they will share in the revenue from parking and concessions on their respective sides of the stadium.

That's doable. And would be a pretty sweet idea.

Sounds amazing but would be an accounting nightmare for the Panthers and the league.

Eh. That's what accounting firms are for lol

Usually tax calculations are done on monthly basis by Panthers accounting office.  Accounting firms will charge an arm and leg for easy reporting.  Splitting revenue between two states will require a lot of paperwork tracking and proper allocation.  It will cause a mess.

Despite every game being sold out there are lots of empty seats on game days, including during good seasons because there is not enough people willing to buy tickets from PSL owners and brokers trying to sell.  The main reason is tickets have already gotten to expensive for many people even when they can get them for face value or less.  The population also is still largely fans of other teams.   Charlotte is a good market but the fan base is not there who will shell out the kind of ticket prices for seats at a brand new place.   The only reason why the games “sell out” now is because of the PSLs.  Selling out would be a problem unless it was PSLs again and not to sure that would fly again here.

I’m sure.  It would NOT fly here again.

Agreed on the PSL issue...tepper gonna have to deal with that impediment when he comes calling for cash

not buying your comments on population largely made of other team’s fans...we are way past that

As mobile as the US population is, gone are the days when you see only home fans in the seats. Sure there's less in certain stadiums but Charlotte is not unique to that. Footnote* You'll always find several jackass's wearing Cowboy/Steelers gear at KC vs Denver game  for example.
