Game Grades - Carolina at TB

As they say, "a win is a win is a win", and I for one will take it no matter the problems or circumstances involved. I would advise us all to do the same considering that there may not be many more this year unless some problems (JAKE) are addressed.

Offense: C

Lets see passing game F and running game A = C. The coordinator finally figured out that if we kept throwing Jake was gonna literally lose the game for us. Kudo's to finally realizing that running the ball was all we needed to do. Now I know that we must throw to be good teams, but this week the run game was all we needed and in the last drive it was all we got.

QB: F

Is there a rating lower than F? I mean what is it gonna take for us to make a change or for Jake to make a change. This guy is killing us and handing the opponent points each and every week. We MUST address this situation in order to win more than 6 games this season or next.

RB: A

Should be A+ but the fumble issue is a minor concern. Better ball security is needed considering that we are gonna run the thing 30+ times from here on out. D. Willy was awesome yesterday. He and Stewart did a great job of being patient enough to allow the holes to open but quick enough to hit them and drive defenders. William looked the best he has since TB last year.

WR: C

Hard to grade low here because they simply didn't have opportunities. Moose made some grabs early to help move ball and I grade this high do to blocking of the unit which helps run game. If he doesn't catch a ball, Moose blocking is a key to this team.

O-Line: A+

Could grade slightly lower considering a couple of breakdowns on pass blocking, but the fact of the matter is that we don't win this game without the play of our o-line yesterday. They were mauling defenders after Q1 and in the final drive the surge was 4 yards every play. This is the way we all expected this unit to be - nasty and physical.

Defense: A

Again this week I feel for the defense. On the stat sheet we gave up 21 points but in reality only 7 by the defense. This is a fact that seems to be happening every week, making their stats on points per game look well worse than they should. After the opening drive or two, TB had no chance of scoring points. In fact, TB best offense was int. by Jake.

D-Line: A

For the second consecutive week this unit played great (H. Thomas factor?). Pep has really turned it on and I love the recent play of our other DE (Johnson, Brayton, Brown). I know they got over 100 yard rushing but a great deal of that was on the opening drive and on scrambles. After Q1 their running game was a non factor

LB: A+

This unit is solid as can be. T. Davis is a definate Pro Bowler this season. His int really turned the game around and he was making plays all over the field in coverage and in the backfield. Diggs had a solid game as well and although the numbers were not there, Beason was good also.

Secondary: B-

This unit has gotten its best player back the last two weeks and C. Harris is making a huge difference vs. the run. Gamble had his worst game of the year and I am still worried about Godfrey. Not much passing for TB but I feel that this was more do to the young QB and the solid pass rush.

Agree 100% with special teams grade. I forgot or maybe wanted to forget to include them in the thread.

Special teams was again anything but special. blocked FG, KR for a touchdown, and one stupid penalty that could have killed a guy.
