First name Tepper is looking to bring in: fired Browns team president Mike Keenan

Team presidents handle the business side of the front office. Marketing plans, execution, etc. They don't touch football decisions. This guy has been consulting for other sports franchises for a long time. Could bring in new ideas.

Kind of like a FO/operations version if Ernie Accorsi?

I'll repeat what I heard from a former employee.

Richardson was known to value loyalty to him over actual ability to do your job (other sources have also acknowledged this) so several people in the team operation we're "overpromoted" into jobs they weren't really qualified for.

Side Note: Yes, Marty Hurney was one of the people he had in mind. Tina Becker was too.

In some cases, the new job may not even have had anything to do with the old job. That's actually kind of common in the business world these days. Richardson himself once stated that he didn't believe you had to keep people in the same types of jobs, so that's no shock.

Between those two things, and Richardson's questionable mental health, the internal team operations had gotten to be an unholy mess. Our friend Towelboy's source said the same thing, calling the team offices "a circus".

A major reorganization is likely needed, and it'd be no surprise to see it happen on the business side first, given the timing. On the football side, also possible, but better suited to the offseason.

Again, we'll see what happens.

I hope one of his ideas is to shitcan all of JR's minions.  Starting with Hurney.

We know you hate Hurney, bro, but at least be honest and admit that he's seemingly done a decent to good job during his second act.

You already pretty much know from reports that Hurney will likely be here, but you keep hope alive on that pie in the sky.

So Jerry's sons were cut, team President is gone, and has been for some time, absentee owner, cheerleader running business operations, etc, etc, etc......

If I just bought  a $2.2B business, you can bet your ass I'm bringing in people to advise me, and possibly take over operations ASAP.

I guess she knows how to run routes is why she got the job.

You can't admit what hasn't been proven yet.  You guys keep claiming he's done an awesome job at team building when they haven't even taken the field yet.   The proof will come when the season is over, not before.

"Awesome?" I've never used that word in conjunction with Hurney. That's a word better saved for a post-postseason analysis. But, the thing is, there's the preseason analysis based on paper, and so far Hurney looks pretty good in the way that he has maneuvered the holes and reconciled them with the purse strings. Moreover, the team looks a lot more balanced in all three phases between the draft and free agency than it has in a long time.

My biggest concern is LT, but it wasn't really a damned thing that he could do about that.

This constant referring to "cheerleader running the business" is some sexist BS. Yes, he's going to put his person in that spot.

We have had 4 presidents who were cheerleaders but you don't hear anyone saying "Cheerleader running the country".  It's dismissing everything about a person based on gender stereotype and says more about you than them.

Despite the Brown's being awful, they still fill the stadium and sell a ton of merchandise. With their relatively low salary output for players, i'd think their operating margins are relatively high. I just hope Tepper doesn't take low salary expenditure to mean higher margins because if the Panther's suck, people in the Carolina's won't be showing up like Browns fans.

Won't matter if they show up or not, all the seats will have been paid for by PSL owners.

The games aren't played on paper my friend.  Prognosticators everywhere claiming success or failure without playing a single game doesn't mean anything.  Hurneys record stinks and no amount of spin can change it.

I said the same thing at first, but then had the chance to talk to someone who had actually worked with her.

He said that while it may be sexist, it's actually true. She's not qualified to run the team. And the fact that the Panthers won't let her be interviewed doesn't exactly speak well of her.

That said, I liked that she wanted to fire the team counsel. Granted, that could be a deliberate leak to make her look good, but it's believable.

But they'll still sell out the stadium thanks to PSLs.

Nobody would have said a word if it was an unqualified male who was appointed to run things at an interim level. You can tell how screwed up society is when the same people who are disgusted by Richardsons sexism turn around and react in this way and don't even see how obvious it is. Like the comments regarding creepy old Richardson immediately followed up with comments about wanting to see the ass of the victim.
