He was Browns team president at that point and was let go when Mike Holmgren took over.

Boy do I hope so. Even if so, I don't get the logic in leaking a fired Browns guy as your first hire on Day 1 as the ink is still drying. Might want to bury that a week or two?

Team presidents handle the business side of the front office. Marketing plans, execution, etc. They don't touch football decisions. This guy has been consulting for other sports franchises for a long time. Could bring in new ideas.

Is that how it was for the Browns? Because he was replaced by Mike Holmgren, not exactly someone I would expect to be Mr. Smart Businessman.
