South Carolina sucks ! Only thing they got going for them is myrtle beach , I like myrtle beach , other then that North Carolina is the better state in general . I like our location

Have you ever been to SC or MB? It's literally the worst place in the state.

oh look, another trash sc...nc is better thread.

it's obvious a lot of you don't spend any considerable time in the "opposing" state.

truth be told, they're damn near identical.

Not hardly. There are some similarities, but major differences as well. If you've seen Twins with  Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Devito, that's a more apt comparison.

I just want to remind everyone what Stan Kroenke said when bought the Rams in 2010. Kroenke is from Missouri and many thought the team would find a way to stay in St. Louis.

He was quoted as saying at the time of purchase: "I've been around St. Louis and Missouri a major portion of my life," he said. "I've never had any desire to lead the charge out of St. Louis. That's not why we're here. We're here to work very hard and be successful in St. Louis."

I don't need to remind any of you that the Rams are now based out of Los Angeles.

So while David Tepper has certainly made some comments that the Panthers are staying in the Carolinas, I advise caution. Unlike Kroenke, Tepper has no obvious connection to the Carolinas. And even though the Panthers have been successful recently, the Hornets were a playoff team and still moved. Success on the field matters little when it comes to team relocation.

Now granted, the two situations are quite different. Bank of America stadium is in good condition compared to what St. Louis had in the Edward Jones dome. BofA is also in a great location in Charlotte, and over 60,000 PSL's are consistent revenue to claim "sellout" crowds. The Rams were struggling to stay off the blackout list in the late 2000s and early 2010s because of poor ticket sales. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81bb5c5f/article/rams-avoid-blackout-for-home-game-vs-panthers

I'd just take what Tepper is saying at face value because he's trying to make a good first impression. We have no way of knowing what his true intentions are and I think the odds the team is moving is as high as it ever has been. Once the Cam Newton era is over and if/when the team starts losing again, fan support could dwindle. The stadium could start to decay. We knew Richardson would never move the team. But Tepper? Who really knows for sure. Time will tell.

Whether he keeps the team in the Carolinas will depend on what happens when the legislature in Raleigh turns him down regarding new stadium assistance.  Because at some point in the next 5-15 years, he is going to want a new stadium so he can sell $2000 seats to some executives while the rest of the stadium is empty.  And he is going to want the state to help pay for it.

When I make the drive up 77 for games, I see a lot of panther flags heading that way. People in Columbia can't afford tickets, now that's got to be the most idiotic statement I've heard in a while. You folks do realize that we all pull for the same team. It's not the NC Panthers, some of you may be very surprised how many SC folks fill the seats in BOA. So can we all just get along and quit the whole NC, SC thing, and focus on "fans" selling their seats to the visiting teams fan base.

People love to wring their hands about things they have absolutely no control over. I'll never understand why people around here have such an inferiority complex. It's like the NFL is a hot girlfriend we're going to lose. Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. We have an international airport that is in the middle of a multi-million dollar upgrade/renovation. We have more uptown hotel space being built every quarter. We have diversified industries to support one of the strongest regional fan bases in the NFL. There are no other cities I can think of that have all of those necessary qualities or will have them within the next ten years that doesn't already have an NFL team.

That said, the stadium is old, and could use an overhaul or rebuild. We've got USC or Clemson right nearby that could host the team for an NFL season if the did a complete rebuild. The goal is always to bring a Super Bowl to Charlotte, and you need hotel capacity, fan activities, and most importantly a stadium that negates inclement weather as a factor to make that happen.

Life is unpredictable. I'm going to enjoy having an NFL team a few minutes from my house as long as I can. If that changes, I'll figure out how to respond when it happens.

I’ve been to a NCSU game in Carter Finley. I guess having a preseason game in the triangle isn’t a rotten idea but I still think that the infrastructure around the stadium wouldn’t be able to accommodate an NFl game comfortably. What does CF and WB stadiums seat?

First off, I hope the stadium stays out for a long time.  The location is perfect and Charlotte is far and away the best place for the Panthers.  This is coming from a guy who has lived in Charleston forever.

Gotta correct you on Columbia though, the Gamecocks consistently have 85,000 in the stands for home games, and probably another 30,000 or so that stay outside and only tailgate. Plenty of hotels and such within 5-10 miles, way more than enough to host a Panthers game, which normally averages around 75,000 or so.

Remember Columbia was asked first to host the Panthers in the inaugural season, but they declined (I’m sure they regret it).  As we all know, the Panthers then locked down Clemson’s stadium.

Most People in Columbia, SC can’t afford to attend a panthers game. Where would they play these games in Raleigh and SC? They don’t have the infrastructure to accommodate an NfL game and everything that accompanies it.

I've lurked for a while and have noticed you nothing about football, are a braindead liberal, and now you're hating on my home state?! Stfu!

Where are you from exactly? I'm from Charleston SC which I guarantee is nicer than you're home town.

I don’t even worry myself about the potential of the panthers leaving. I’m on borrowed time with my commitment to the league, anyways, as there have been a few situations that have rubbed me the wrong way. If they leave, I’m done with the NFL. If Cam is gone in 2 years, I’m done. It’s really quite simple.
