Exactly, I know, was just saying that Rivera is a lot safer than many on here may want him to be.  Rivera isnt a bad coach. people can scream that he is all day long but the evidence says otherwise.

more recently, I said it in the topic, so mine is the most recentist!!!!!!

j/k on that last part

Thing with Rivera though, just like with Hurney, performance isn't necessarily the only thing he's gonna be judged on.

Fair or not, that's the world right now.

The SI thing is over played, mountains out of mole hills and no one cares outside of the people that already hate rivera.

If you're talking about the fanbase, maybe, but the fanbase aren't the only ones watching.

In the post #metoo world, an awful lot of people who don't give a rip about football will still pay attention to what the team does.

I have little doubt the NFL has probably told anyone who was thinking of paying tribute to Jerry Richardson as this sale goes through that they'd be best served to keep their mouth shut.

I know folks keep talking about the Steelers way of doing things because Tepper was a fan growing up and is now a minority owner, but there is no guarantee he agrees with how the team is run given he currently has little to no say. Just like Sabates had a lot to say about the Panthers which may or may not reflect anyone's opinion but his own.  So if he stuck with the Steelers way he might not change anything as the Steelers rarely makes wholesale coaching changes and like continuity. As a money manager who routinely takes big chances on his instincts he might upset the apple cart and make wholesale changes.  It depends on whether he is indoctrinated in the Steelers way or he is a stingy, balls to the wall, skin flint as some have characterized him.

There is just about zero chance that Rivera gets fired this year.  If the team doesn't perform well, next year is a possibility, but it wont be because of me to.  Unless it comes out that Rivera did something abusive himself.

Never said this year was an option (it definitely isn't).

In my opinion, if Tepper ever fires Rivera, it will be because of performance. Or Tepper wanting to bring in his guy.  Or some combination of the two.  Unless of course, something unexpected happens.   Like if we find out Rivera was really Jack the Ripper in a previous life.

I think this year is the year that Ron and Marty have to prove this team can win it all. Tepper coming in I believe he will bring people like possibly an Omar Khan to help with the restructuring of the front office. This team has to win early or Ron and Marty will be gone by December.

Director of Player Personnel...

Assistant General Manager...

Vice President in Charge of Whatever...

Team President...

All of these positions are currently open or could easily be created. NFL titles and job descriptions are extremely flexible.

It'd be very easy for Tepper to put someone of his choosing into any of those spots without firing any current front office people.

Mr. Scot I like you a lot, so I'm being polite.

No body is even considering getting rid of Rivera in the slightest because he made a Pro jerry comment before a game, its a non issue. there was nothing wrong with what Rivera said before the game and to pretend otherwise is grasping at straws. no body cares. if you want me to go further about this PM me but otherwise I'm just going to leave this at that.

Honestly if you think thats a reason to fire rivera what is your beef with him? dont like winning seasons and multiple back to back Division Championships? I know I do!

What gave you the impression I'm in favor of it?

It's a possibility. It's also possible nothing comes of it.

One thing that people always seem to have trouble with in this forum: Telling the difference between a discussion of what could happen from a suggestion of what should.
