Serious: What will Tepper do with Hurney?

Recommended Posts

Hurney goes, then might as well get rid of the entire coaching staff as well. There is no point in repeating the same damn cycle over again.

New GM, New coaching staff to pair with.

No more get rid of one and keep the other.

I think he will move fast paced and Panther fans will start to realize just how toxic JR was to this franchise with the way he let things drag on and on and times pass him by. Gameday at the stadiums will not be the same for decades at a time...I think it's weird to see so few JR lovers on this forum now.

Better days are ahead for this team, and it's fans that's a fact and long overdue.

I was going to talk about Rivera, but I think it's *extremely* unlikely that he gets fired this offseason. Next offseason? Absolutely a possibility, but that's a discussion for 2019.

I don't know if it'll be soon, but I don't expect Hurney to stick past this season unless we have something along the lines of a Super Bowl winning year.

It's not strictly about performance. Nobody is more closely associated with Jerry Richardson than Marty Hurney. Heck, the NFL has already urged the Panthers to dump Hurney once.

Plus, to be honest, @Woodie is right. Tepper really doesn't come off like the kind of guy who'd spend two billion on something and just leave it as is. Seems more likely he's gonna put his own stamp on it and maybe soon.

Yeah, it's possible Hurney sticks, but it's not something I'd bet on.

since when did i become @woodie.....

Said it elsewhere: He could still bring on his own people this season by putting them in open positions like team president.

Zero chance of coaching changes, but adding people to the front office is possible without firing anyone.

I think youre going to see a big turnover on the front office, if Rivera stays or goes it will be purely performance based.

many on here thing otherwise but rivera is actually a very good coach and I consider him in the safest position on the team.

You can't fire a coaching staff in May, specifically because you can't build a whole new staff in May, unless you're prepared to have a staff that's almost exclusively people who are currently unemployed.

The success of this season has a lot to do with it. I think a deep playoff run is a legit expectation. I get a lot of people dont think it was a big deal but losing to the saints 3 times was incredibly unacceptable. With them and the falcons being legit playoff contenders Floating around in the middle of the division with a talented team is not a good look for a respected coach. To be frank, after the 2015 season superbowl run you can make a case both those teams have had our number and Rivera is getting outcoached. Hiring Norv turner was big reflection of how those games specifically played out. Offense non existent, terrible play calling, poor game management.

2016 vs. Saints and falcons.   1-3

2017 vs saints and falcons.     1-4

Thats just my hard opinion.

Rivera getting called out in that SI article didn't exactly help him.

David Tepper is on record as saying he doesn't think the NFL has been tough enough on things that affect women, i.e. domestic violence, sexual harassment, etc.

Rivera could probably help himself a whole lot by making a strong statement on the topic, or at least not pumping up Jerry Richardson anymore.

Hurney was always going to be short term once the team went up for sale regardless. I don't know why you guys waste so much oxygen worrying about him. Rivera is the bigger question mark. Will Ron coach like his ass is on the line this season?

Exactly, I know, was just saying that Rivera is a lot safer than many on here may want him to be.  Rivera isnt a bad coach. people can scream that he is all day long but the evidence says otherwise.

more recently, I said it in the topic, so mine is the most recentist!!!!!!

The SI thing is over played, mountains out of mole hills and no one cares outside of the people that already hate rivera.
