This is an early assesment but a lot of huddler like to pooo on others about their football knowledge so lets do a way to early prediction on which rookie will have the most impact on helping this team win.

It wouldn't be exclusively to stats maybe the improvement of entire unit or play success when that "rookie" is on the field +/-

Which rookie is going to have the most impact?

Lets see how good Huddlers know about Football.

I'll put my money on Ian Thomas or Rashaan Gaulden

1. Dj Moore

2. Donte Jackson- said he got beat yesterday but think he improves.  Our slot CB was Terrible last year.  Captain was turrible, then they tried Shaq and it got worse

3. Ian Thomas- really think this kid is going to be good

The hardest part is how will rookie's talent translate into Panthers overall scheme when they are plugged in with rest of the team. Its not like DJ is going be running routes 100% of the snaps he is gonna have to put some work in the run game.

Player + Scheme = Production?

I love the Thomas pick but I don't see him having a huge impact as the #2 TE this year. Certainly won't be any more of an impact than Dickson ever had here. It could be Moore or Jackson depending on how they come along. Maybe even Gaulden but I don't see him starting this year, unfortunately.

I said Donte “Action” Jackson. One I think he plays from day oneand will be adequate as a rookie. And he will take over  TD58’s role of chirping at Cam quite nicely. I love this kid so far. Spartanburg gonna be fun.

I agree.  Sure not going to allow one practice vs. rookies and a few PS players to sway my opinion.  He is a system player and there was no system yesterday.

Duke is going to regret the smack talk when Jackson starts and he does not have a jersey, but it is motivating.

IMO Donte has the highest potential to make an impact on day 1.  He's gonna be on the field a lot, more then DJ moore I feel which will give him an opportunity to make some big plays.

I doubt it, and hope not.

That would mean the defense is on the field a Whole lot more than the offense.

We act like theres a Lot of of competition in front of him compared to Jackson.

While the CBs are thin. I wouldnt say the competition to keep Moore off rhe field is tough.

Torrey Smith- while a vet has been a slot #3 guy.  The only time he played outside as a #1 guy was in SF and he was non existent.  So competition for Moore outside as #1-2 shouldnt be to tough for a 1st rounder

Funchess- been decent, and possibly the biggest competition for Moore

Samuel- we dont even know what we have there yet.

Byrd- career practice squad guy, limited regular season action and at 5'9 180 is he a outside guy or another slot.

Jarius Wright- 5'10 180 guy who has been a career #3-4 slot guy.

Shepard- id expect to be cut by the season.

I disagree your going on assumption of Shula’s playcalling. Thomas is going to be heavily involved  in the offense and I see him having the same type of impact Olsen had when we traded for him in 2011.

His competition is also CMC and expect him to be more involved in the passing game.

2017: 651 yds 5TDs

2018: 800 yds ?

WR group is gonna have legit competition and depth from top down is going to one of the best.

The mid round rookies  actually have the ability to make a bigger impact if you factor in scheme and depth.

I’ll say it for the millionth time,Panthers run the ball 50% of the time which means 2nd TE is gonna be involved in the play.

Ian Thomas mindset should be that be option  #1B not 2

50 or so catches for 500+ yds and 5 TDs? No. But 20-25 for 300 and a TD or two with some impact plays/key conversions in there? I could see that. I think his blocking ability will actually be the bigger asset this season.

Name a TE in San Diego other than Gates.

DJ Moore will be the best out of this draft. However, there are plenty of vets in front of him that will garner receptions: Funch, Olsen, Torrey, CMC. Still I believe that Moore will make an impact as a rookie; just not like what Donte will be for us in the secondary.

Donte is already immediately our fastest and probably the most athletic DB. He has that swag and confidence. He’s a playmaker. I see him leading this secondary in INTs.

    • Right now there’s at least 6 teams with offers on the table to the Canes. Is one of those teams someone he told them he would sign with… dunno if anyone but Tulsky knows. 😂
