FYI: the reason so many of you sweetened on Ben Navarro over the past 6 weeks is because he wanted you to. He hired a PR firm to help sell people just like you on his bid and you fell for it hook, line, and sinker. Those flowery stories about how great of a guy were pitched by that firm. He's a billionaire debt collector FFS, he's hardly the mix of Dean Smith and Dale Earnhardt like people were making him out to be.

It wouldn't take a PR firm to have his current employees and a friends say he's a good guy in an attempt convince the public who has nothing to do with the sale to like him.

Domes are dumb.

Weren’t Rubin and Kestembaum the main two looking for a dome? Not Tepper?

We never really got confirmation.

Sabates said two of the four potential ownership options (he included Rubin) wanted a domed stadium.  And he made clear that by domed, he didn't mean retractable roof, but a traditional dome.

Navarro had a stated preference for an open air stadium in uptown.  Pretty clear he'd have stuck with BOA (something else that might have turned off the NFL). We also know that Navarro turned down Sabates request to talk, so I'd say pretty much zero chance he was one of the two.

That leaves Tepper, Kestenbaum and Rubin, and it meant only one of those three would have been against a dome.

It's pretty logical to assume Kestenbaum was one of those two given all his talk about maximizing profit and such.  A new stadium probably would have been a big part of that. Granted, that's not definite, but it's pretty reasonable.

So if you accept Kestenbaum as one of the two,  you're down to a fifty-fifty split between Rubin and Tepper.

Sabates went on to relate that he'd had further conversations with Tepper and Kestenbaum, but never again mentioned Rubin.  It'd be no stretch to think the two he had spent more time with are the ones he'd have spoken to most on the topic.  It's also rational to think that, given Tepper's drive to make money, he'd want the kind of additional revenue a new stadium could provide.

Working against the notion? The Steelers.  Pittsburgh has an open air stadium, and if Tepper wants to use the Steelers as an example, then while he may want a new stadium, he might not necessarily want a domed stadium.

If I were making a guess, I'd say Tepper probably is one of the guys who favors a dome, but there's no way to know for sure just yet.

We'll see at some point.

Perhaps, but I thought that I read somewhere that he wouldn't mind the idea. Scot could probably say more definitively.

The thing us that Tepper apparently has Sabates in his ear, and you know Sabates us all for getting out the stadium out there on his land by Carrowinds if I'm.not mistaken. This being the case, and with the move toward super domed stadiums, it would probably seriously be on the table. There are financial advantages to a dome, so if Tepper starts thinking, he may decide to be a bit more frugal if not practical, and think about putting a dome on the basically newly renovated BOA.
