I don't understand the obsession with building a new (dome?) stadium. BOA is probably one of the most city center located stadiums in the league which is awesome. It was just renovated and who needs videos screens the size of skyscrapers when you are there to watch the action on the field, not the screen. I would 100% be against a new stadium and would voice my opinion to the state because it would be a massive waste of taxpayer dollars.

Yeah... good luck with that.

With what? Contacting our representatives or convincing them not to do it?

The new stadium thing, right or wrong, is going to drag out regardless of what either of us have to say about it. The pattern of this in various NFL cities the last several years indicates we are in for an interesting ride. So buckle up.

I finally came around to wanting a dome when I was sitting in the blazing sun for 4 hours during the Bills game last season in one of the most boring games the NFL has ever seen.

Though I agree with you there are two problems with keeping the existing stadium. NUMBER ONE - The team's value would increase significantly if a new dome stadium were built. Check out Forbes and their estimated value for NFL teams. Which teams are at the top and how old are their stadiums? NUMBER TWO - Super Bowl. Charlotte will never see the Super Bowl until a dome stadium is built and about 30,000 more hotel rooms are built near downtown. New Owner that pays 2.5 Billion for a team and can't sniff hosting the Super Bowl, no thank you.

Yeah dropping a small fortune to take a family of 5 to a NFL game on a sunday, I don't necessarily want to sit in 20degree weather lips chapped balls frozen, nor sit in 90+ sauna pouring sweat.

Nothing beats an outdoor stadium in early October when it's 65 with a light breeze, but the drawbacks of sitting in downpours or 99 degree temperatures on a cloudless day or standing in thawing snow that gets all over your ass vastly outweighs it.

They are if/when Tepper demands a domed stadium. Our Republican state government will balk at that request for money, and they'll be someone else's Panthers soon after. Tepper isn't buying this team to keep them in Charlotte and make them successful. He's buying them as an asset he can leverage to make more money and then sell once the time is right. Markets be damned.

Seattle is the 14th biggest media market. Oklahoma City is the 41st media market.  Didn't stop Clay Bennett from buying the Sonics and moving them to OKC once he didn't get his shiny new stadium (which he really didn't want, since he just wanted them out of Seattle).

Playing the media market card is nice and I wish it had more validity, but in this good 'ole boys club that is the NFL, it doesn't mean all that much anymore. The type of people who fixate on the next new, shiny, money-making object are the same kind of people who play with fake boobs and have brass balls in their offices.

David Stern also wanted them out of Seattle, and the NBA is a different animal.  It doesn’t mind and actually LIKES Portland, Memphis, San Antonio, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Orlando, OKC, one professional sport type markets.
