Will DJ Moore become a solid weapon for Cam Newton?

What definition of a “solid weapon” are we using here?

Wwould people be happy with 50 catches? 600 yards?

Depending on how the ball is spread around, yes. 50/600, as a minimum, would be OK if it opens Funchess up for 900 yards, and Samuel and Smith for another 600 each. Of course, I think he gets 70 catches for 850.  I really think that CMC and Anderson are both going to ball out this season.

You can write this down right now: Gold Jacket will be OROTY in the NFL.

On top of that, he's in a great learning environment. If there's one underrated feature of our QB, it's the way his accuracy problems challenge receivers to be the best versions of themselves. Can hurt the stats, but it teaches a lot as well. Gold Jacket is going to go through a trial by fire, and, yes, he'll be able to handle it.

Nice of you to come back after being so completely incorrect about the ownership thing and your fake sources

First, great write up, minus accidentally saying Michigan instead of Maryland.  Seriously though, we’ll done.

I think it’s important to remember when analyzing Moore that it’s not in a vacuum.  He has flaws in route running that some  #1s don’t have, but we have signed others that I think complement well.  With our offensive weapons we have the ability to give defensive coordinators nightmares in game planning.  I can’t think of another team with more versatility.

This team has to be one of the most versatile in the NFL tbh.

We have so many hybrids/swiss army knives. A healthy trio of CMC, Samuel, and Moore could really keep DCs up at night because of the variety of roles they could fit in. I'd love to see how Norv puts it all together.

Honestly, just coming back to this thinking more about why Norv would be in so much love with him.

First of all, he isn’t the biggest receiver, nor is he a deep threat. In fact, Moore seemingly is the opposite of what Norv is usually used to in a receiver. A smaller, shiftier, versatile guy who currently does his damage in the short and intermediate range.

Now, I’m sure DJ Moore can develop into a deep threat once he understands beating press, but even then I think this speaks to Norv wanting to evolve his scheme around his players.

I’m really interested to see what kind of offense Norv will put together.

This is primarily why I believe we could see a record-breaking year from our offense. If our OL surprises all of us and turns out to be above average, I can't see anyone stopping our offense.

Sadly, a lot hinges on this.

Aside from Trai Turner, I do not trust any other o-line member at all. Depending on their performance, it’s literally the difference between a 7-9 season and a superbowl imo.

The weapons and Cam are great. The offensive line - not so great looking.

Give the rookie realistic expectations. How did we go from cam has zero weapons to all of a sudden a ‘stacked’ offense with one draft? Let’s wait. Let’s see. As of now I feel we’re the same until someone breaks out. What worries me about Moore is Hurney thinking of hitting on another smitty who is a special talent. Time will see but Norwell is gone which is huge...Kalil and Olsen are recently injury prone and worry mean. Can’t see any other way the Oline has gone except worse. Seems Samuel is concerning as well. Love CJ was brought is and CMC should be poised to be better but still need to wait and see.
