REPORT: Navarro asks Peyton Manning to be part owner of Panthers

Recommended Posts

I think this would be a good move for the organization if Navarro does get the team.  After all, he will need an insider to help navigate his way through the way things work in the NFL.  And Peyton is very well connected within league circles, so would certainly have the influence to bring on a top level consultant to help with the transition.

He's also very smart and football savvy, and was a master of recognizing the nuances in a player's game.  So, I think he would probably be good in a position similar to Elway's (president/GM, I believe), or if he didn't want to deal with the minutia of the GM role, he'd be great as president.  Either way, I think adding him to the ownership team would be a coup for Navarro.

I’d be fine with him as President/GM like Elway. He’s a smart fuging football guy.

I agree with this. He would probably find a QB a lot earlier unlike Elway lol. In all seriousness, if Navarro can land Peyton that would be amazing and game changing.

Manning talked Luck into staying in school to avoid playing for the Panthers.  Fug him, seriously.  Not that I'd want Luck now, but still...the principle and all that.

Not only this, but with JR speaking down to PM during the lockout, do you think he'd sell to him?

Tony Dungy and Bill Polian are both consultant options.

Technically, he's be selling to Navarro, not Manning.

That said, Navarro is no fool. Pretty sure if he believed Peyton would have any sort of detrimental effect on his bid, he wouldn't have asked him.

I hadn't thought about the GM angle

GM or Team President who picks the GM.

For the moment though, the only real word we have is that Manning is "considering the offer".

My gut says he'll take it, but my gut has been wrong before.

peyton manning sexually assaulted a woman in college

totally what we need in a minority owner

For whatever you think of Manning, calling it a sexual assault is a stretch.

Her own account is that he stuck his butt in her face. Manning claims he was mooning a teammate and never touched her.

Yeah, that's a dumbass thing to do, but that's hardly in the same category as say, Roethlisberger (or even Richardson).
