Regardless of matt kalils contract and cap hit, he shouldn't be starting. I never understood ppl who say, we paid him so lets play him even tho he sucks. No, lets realize we made a mistake and bench him. Oh we paid kalil $55mil so lets keep him at LT and let cam get pummeled every other play......howabout we realize we made a mistake, bench him, get a replacement, and rememeber this stupid move in the future. I get it, at one point the players salary was correlated to the talent/impact they had. Not anymore with the salary cap going up and all these players being overpaid. Stupid ppl needa realize we decide who starts by talent. Not by how much theyre being paid.

This speaks to fact Moton cant beat him out...those saying we need to groom him for LT should read the tea leaves...Kalil is the best we got right now...

I’ve always thought that Kalil’s contract wasn’t as big as it seemed because he could be cut after a season without hardly any cap hit.

we will probably get rid of him or if he has a good season I could see them restructuring his contract.

I understand Moton is supposed to be the future at tackle but what if he doesn’t work out? What if he can’t do a good job of blocking or ends up only being able to play guard or only good enough to play right tackle?

I could be wrong but I don’t think D Williams is good enough to play LT so he will only be a RT. Which means Moton is the only option at LT. If he fails we are screwed. Hopefully we can give him plenty of snaps this upcoming season so the staff can see what he is capable of not to mention he will get much needed experience.

I honestly believe we need to draft or sign a tackle in the first 3 rounds come next year for insurance purposes. All of our chips are in on Moton and if he fails we end up with no LT.

No, the initial structure of Kalil's first few years aren't that bad on the cap but cutting him after year one would have had dramatic impacts on the cap. I am pretty sure those last 2 if not 3 seasons, for that matter.

We need a plan moving forward because I am pretty sure we are just going to see the sixth straight year of him being a dumpster fire. Drafting a guy is easy on the surface but there looks to be another year of middling LT prospects in the 2019 draft. And, for us to really have a shot at getting a blue chip guy.....we have to suck pretty hard to get into that top 10 range.
