Saints were 16 YPG from having a top 10 yards defense. They did have a top 10 scoring defense. Did that, even with starting the year out with one of the worst 2 games stretches in defensive history. Defense played well last year.

Pretty sure in 2014 we went in and hung like 47 and gave up minimal in their house. It can be done again. The refs do not help.

It looks SO good on paper, and I'm very pleased / excited about the CJ Anderson signing.

But I was thinking back to 2013 offense on paper preseason:

That looks like a pretty AWESOME offense. And yet, it didn't quite gel. Injuries. Lack of chemistry... Shula.

It was the 2013 D that carried our team to 12-4 and the playoffs...

One big factor was Ron, Cam and the whole team lacking playoff experience.

That's no longer the case. Ron and Cam are better. Norv is better than Shula, and the 2018 talent on paper looks pretty solid.

But, as 2013 shows us, the talent has to 1) stay healthy. 2) gel and fit well together

So hoping it happens. This year could be truly special!

The defensive backfield had a lot to do with that.

Those Saints receivers played against a soft zone with  a free release and the Panthers secondary  weren’t the best tacklers past the line of scrimmage. Coleman alone let RBs run wild.  That won’t happen this year.   Give Brees a soft zone with 3 or more seconds is a death sentence 

New Orleans did rivera a favor

They showed him they had figured him out and beat him with better talent. Seems like Ron only changes coaches or players  when it’s absolutely necessary.
