Panthers signing CJ Anderson

The Panthers were about $7 million below the salary cap before signing C.J. Anderson to a 1-year deal Monday (worth approximately $1.7 million with about $800,000 in incentives, according to a league source).

That’s enough to take care of the draft picks and undrafted free agents while staying under the cap (only the top 51 contracts count against it). But it doesn’t leave room for much else, unless Hurney wanted to free up space by converting the big salaries of Newton and middle linebacker Luke Kuechly to signing bonuses, for instance.

Wtf. Only 1.7 mil?  H2.0 keeps amazing me.

Very impressive deal, for us.

Was shocked and pleased about the price. I might just have to jump on the #MartyParty bandwagon.

I was just shocked myself but thinking about it he may have gotten a little more money somewhere else but we as of right now 5/8 we present the best option for him being he'll get a chance to play and contribute on a stellar offensive roster. Looking around the league we have a perfect spot for him we're a top 6 team in the NFC with a need for between the tackles runner and good pass protection RB. Ron probably told him man I roll with the vets over younger players so don't worry CAP won't get a jersey on Sundays

I was expecting in the $2M range based off what Blount got on his 1-yr deal. This is excellent. The usual suspected cuts of Shep, Fozzy & Jones should open up money for a SAF.

I really wish Petty would've dropped down the waiver wire after the Jets cut him. Would have been a great value for QB2 at under $1M.

There’s a solid chance Bridgewater gets cut

You're in denial about that secondary.

Serch/Gaulden are PS players

Cockrell = Worley until proven otherwise. Jackson will play nickel unless there's speedsters on the outside that are short. He's not covering Alshon.

disagree on Cockrell as he has already outperformed Worley...

I didn’t see anyone mention it but we’re paying Anderson half of what the Giants are paying Stewart.

That really puts it into perspective. Dave either overpaid Stew, CJ was a great deal, or a combination of the two. Hard not to question what Dave is doing up there after spending massively on Nate Solder and giving Stew that kind of money to back up Barkley (presumably).
