Brett Kollmann draft recap

We already tried it last season, it doesn’t suit Cam’s strengths

Don't forget that Cam began the year rusty, and without Ginn. He basically had two bigger receivers to deal with, and by the time that Cam began to get in a groove, his security blanket in Olsen got hurt. On top of that, Shula was still figuring out how to use CMC by the middle of the season, and Samuel really didn't get much playing time before he went down. So...last season shouldn't really be used to judge whether or not a shorter passing game can be executed successfully by Cam. With the personnel we have now, as long as they stay healthy, Cam will have a real opportunity to execute whatever Norv creates.

We saw more crackdowns with McCaffrey which is good. I'm not sure we saw a significant amount of intended shorter plays. Evidenced by the eternal moaning about "slow developing routes" to "plodding receivers" that gets repeated to death.

If Cam can't complete the short passing game then he is not elite....lol

Elite qbs can complete any throw they are asked to.

He should be able to do the 3 step drop and quick strike offense well enough to have an effective offense provided everyone is healthy.

I never thought Cam needed taller wr because he did well with Smith, but he has been shaky in the shorter passing game. He's probably the best at intermediate to deep throws according to PFF.

Cam has also thrown into tighter windows more due to having more possession type wr for the majority of his career. Now the offensive weapons has changed and he has Norv.

We'll see.

I agree and disagree with him. I think the Oline and it's protection is greatly effected by the OC. Shula relied on raw talent to compensate for his down right terrible game flow and choice of plays. Teams were teeing off on Newton because they knew what was coming and knew we wouldn't adjust. Norv has as many weapons this year as any time in his coaching career. Along with a QB that's as good as Rivers and Aikman. I see no reason he want have a impact similar to when ATL actually had a great OC.

God just the fact a OC will actually adjust instead of doing nothing I'm so looking forward to. Heck even the Superbowl Denver's D said we literally did nothing new. IN THE FRIKKEN SUPERBOWL ffs.

Cam never found his groove all season, it was a week to week rollercoaster all the way through week 17

Cam will never be Brees and Brady where they can dink and dunk you to death, he’s more in the Favre category. Last season we completely wasted Cam’s deep passing ability trying to turn him into something he’s not.

I agree with that mostly. I just wish I could see him with an competent oline and those weapons. Maybe this is the year? He doesn't need to be the best at it but effective enough to scare and convert 3rd downs/redzone opportunities.

I mean Brady doesn't have the strongest arm at throwing deep throws but he is good enough at it where you dont notice a huge drop off in accuracy.
