That's huge. That means the "joining up" elements that Sabates wrote about was wrong. YES!

Sabates confirmed he was trying to broker a deal. That much we know.

If Kestenbaum is indeed out, what it actually means is that he failed.

(and I'm fine with that)

Idk what has been more disappointing about this process...  the "sale" or the "news" covering the "sale."

To be fair, it's kinda hard to cover a story where everybody is legally bound to absolute secrecy.

Albert Breer has had the most inside access, but locally Katie Peralta and Rick Rothacker have done a decent job.

So is the consensus Ben Navarro is the preferred choice? Is it because he lives in SC and set up school there? Relatively local ties? He seems young at just 54 as well. Football coach father?

Yes, local ties and seems to actually care about the team. He has laid down roots in the area. It has been mention he wants to own the CAROLINA PANTHERS, not just any NFL team. That is enough for me and many others.

Okay, watched the story, and sorry to report the details don't quite match the headline.

While WCNC speculates initially that the sale might be "down to two", Kelsey Riggs actual commentary really only says that her source believes Navarro and Tepper are the favorites and the "ones to bet on".

That probably explains why there's nothing from other sources.

It is still interesting to me, anyway. If Tepper is being viewed as a favorite again, is it simply because of the NFL or did he perhaps up his bid?

Maybe we'll hear more later, but nothing yet.

I'm good with that. He's my choice then. Which means there's no chance of him winning the bid. :)

Fine with either choice, just get it done.

Don't know which owner I feel would be more likely to keep the current staff, though.  That'll be the next talking point (for the next year...sigh)

Given the stories that have come out, I'm not sure anybody is safe.

Coaching staff? Maybe, but even that's not guaranteed.

Seems highly likely the front office and business side of the team gets cleaned out, especially the legal department.

That's what I was trying to say, but some dude below me tried to say I was wrong. I'll refer to you, since you've kept up on this situation much more than myself.

Or the reason for the sale

very disappointed in Richardson’s behavior and those who had to know about it at all levels of  the team and minority owners and did nothing

pretty hard to keep things like this secret

Don't forget that when this stuff was happening, very few people were speaking out. He got caught up in the wave that's been going on. I guess better late than never.
