You'd think we'd see a leveling off so to speak...  but we continue to see it rise.. and we are seeing giant contracts.. each one being the biggest EVER..?

Will there be a tipping point where the High dollar QB cripples a team?

 

Will we start to see teams Loading up at other positions and pay an average JAG QB a reasonable salary?

Players are always going to get paid. The downturn of the NFL has two reason. 1) Wage growth hasn't happened since the 80s 2) Rodger Goodell storylines in the playoffs have hurt the NFL. No one wants WWE style NFL.

The latest TV deal has/will allow increasing salaries...if the next TV deal Ian smaller or sponsors start to pull out, then we will see contracts “level out” or decline...but I don’t see that happening for a while

I do however see it becoming harder and harder for owners to attract fans to come enjoy games live when the TV viewing experience is so great as it is and forever improving.

I think many teams over the next 10 years will win SB's with QB's on rookie contracts.  The other way doesn't work long term.

the drop in interest this year was for political reasons.

THAT is why you do not use your place of employment to make political statements--then the politicians make a political statement out of your place of employment. 
The NFL is selling entertainment-not social justice.

And I stand behind the cause the players support 100%.  You just do not politicize the NFL because you run the potential of losing half of your  audience.  These players are paid to entertain and play football.  If they use the stage to promote personal agendas, they should not be surprised if the people who have the most invested in the business they are exploiting for personal reasons choose to overlook them.  They are damaging the brand and the value of the league. 

It does not matter if you agree with the players or not--they are hurting the league and abusing the media used to project this product to the nation.   Nobody is telling them what to think or support.

In order to understand the dip in ratings and NFL popularity you have to understand the baby boomer generation. More specifically the baby boomers who hated the changes that occurred in regards to civil rights, and the brief turn against war and war protest brought on by the unpopular Vietnam war. The baby boomers who hated war protest and also hated civil rights protests are now permanently scarred by the memory of those protests in the 70's. They are extremely sensitive to any type of protest related to civil rights and war.

No society stays exactly the same over time, and change is painful for some.  To certain boomers Football is totally irrelevant when compared to the complete flashback meltdown they experience from seeing mostly black players kneeling during a patriotic/military ceremony. They might as well perform a live abortion at midfield. Certain boomers simply cannot handle the the sight of these protests, and though they love football, they will completely boycott all NFL games until the protests stop.

Sound batcrap crazy to you? I'm Gen X. I don't give a poo. Kneel all you want. Lay flat on your back. Take a nap. It doesn't change anyone's views whatsoever. Just get out there and bash your brains in, but no crying.

I understand your point, but when I compare what Kap and company did to what Mc Nair said, what Richardson did, what Snyder's organizations did, to me it seems people are pissed off over the wrong issues.

The knees over police excesses were justifiable imo. The behavior of a significant portion of the owners were/are not.

You have Irsay, Richardson, Synder, Mc Nair. Hell, that is a significant portion of the owners. 

Average Joe's are up in arms about the wrong things.

The NFL was so big, that even if you didn't care about the NFL, you had to at least have a passive interest...watercooler stuff.  

Those folks, when given the opportunity, walked away and blamed protesting.   They never went to games...or put any money into the NFL.

The NFL's core is still strong.

Do you have any concrete data to back this up or is this just your opinion?

As a Boomer myself everything you said here is complete and utter horseshit.   I do not care one iota about these protests nor do I care about anyone's political agenda. 

Based on my experience with the folks in my generation I have found that an overwhelming majority are tired of being labeled by no nothing whiners that think the world revolves around them.

But I'm sure you can find a few of my generation that fit your narrative, just like I can find a few of yours that fit that narrative as well.

I see your anecdotal evidence and present my own:

I'm a millenial and know at least three family members that are baby boomers who stopped watching the NFL over the protests. All three are hard line conservatives that vote based on party rather than policies. All three are also brutally racist.

Mind you, I don't think that everybody butt hurt over players kneeling is a belligerent racist (nor do I believe that baby boomers are). I just think that those crying about the kneeling are belligerently ignorant and would rather believe what they want than know what they need.
