As a situational speed rusher, I actually really like this pick. I'd like to think the plan is to have him on either side of Addison, or Pep in Over & Under fronts as the 5th rusher limiting the chance of a double team on either.

Right now he's the only pure ''speed'' rusher that we have, and I think it could add a dimension on 3rd and pass that we haven't had in a while, especially in the Wide / A-Gap looks.

Addision / Butler / Peppers / Haynes

Could be a very interesting Nickel sub package for passing downs.

its a good thing that there are other players that I would interchange with those guys, mainly Short, a stud pass rushing DT.. almost the same with Poe

its good to have several interior pass rush options. lots of fresh, giant, hungry people trying to get at the QB

I see Haynes in the Bruce Irvin role. What Shaq was supposed to be. He's not going to be a fingers in the dirt DE this year. At least I don't think. We really don't have that many 3 down DEs... Addison leaves something to be desired in run defense and Horton is average. Peppers is situational and Hall is an unknown. We need a vet DE that can play all 3 downs.

I think he will, if you watch the presser they referenced the Joker role, as well as his speed as a pure rusher being his best asset and likened it to what Addison did prior to as a situational pass rusher.

I think we will absolutely see him lined up wide and on the outside shoulder of the RT's to give him the corner and room to turn under them. I don't think they'd trade up to grab him not to offer that opportunity.

To me Rd 1/2 is about finding starters / consistent contributors, from Rd 4 on, you're looking for skill sets that fit what you do to try to maximize a prospects ability as is while they develop other parts of their game.

I don't look for a lot from Haynes, but a 3-7 sack year in the rotation works.

One thing.  You state 7 LB's but only list 6 of them.  Also I dont think they will cut Colin Jones and Shepard in the same season.  One of them yes but not both.  You must have forgoten Ron is a defensive coach an special teams are important to him.  Not "a punt is not a bad play" important, but still important.

Also Hurney has stated about 10 times that he wants a young QB to develop, so only 2 I kind of doubt it.

Both of them are gone

I am VERY worried about DE depth. We need a vet signing.

I have a lot of confidence in Horton going into his contract year I think he will put up very good numbers in CJs role from last year. He had 5.5 sacks playing 34% of the snaps last year we know he can play the run. He's emerged into a full Contributor meaning 50% of the snaps this year I don't see it so bad with Hall getting his chance to produce also we're good at DE imo.

That would be an excellent contribution I'd be ecstatic for 6+ sacks this year.

I would not be surprised to see Addison / Horton as the starting DE's with Peppers Hall being the rotational pieces, with Haynes set as a 3rd down pass rusher. I think our fans need to realize that a committee approach is how you have to tackle this when you don't have a clear cut star. However to get that we'd have to likely have a top 5 pick, so instead we have to develop the talent we draft, and identify skill sets that suit what we're trying to do.

I think we have a bit of that with this group, I could also see a 6th DE, and dropping the LB total to 6 from 7 to compensate as well in the event Cox / Efe really make the most sense for a spot.

Iamshaking my Bonnafon pom-poms right now

I am curious to see what he can do as well.

In terms of QB, I really hope we don't bring DA back. We know what he is, and it's not good. (anymore) I'd rather give a younger guy who still has room to grow an opportunity. I mean if Cam goes down, where are we going with DA anyway? (nowhere)

So much will happen between now and September, so I'll stick to the locks to make it. I came up with 37 locks, leaving 16 slots to be filled.

Offense (16)

QB - Cam

RB- Mccaffrey, CAP

WR, Funchess, Moore, Samuel, Smith, Wright

TE, Olsen, Thomas

0-line, M Kalil, R. Kalil, Williams, Turner, Larsen, Moton

Defense (18)

DE: Peppers, Addison, Hall, Haynes

DT: Short, Poe, Butler, Love

LB: Luke, Davis, Shaq, Carter(5th round rookie)

CB: Bradberry, Cockrell, Jackson

S: Adams, Searcy, Gaulden

Special teams (3)

Gano,Jansen, Palardy

I don't understand why ever sees Hall as a lock for this roster.  Cox outplayed him last year in the preseason, he went on IR with a bobo on his finger, it cost us nothing to cut him, and he was drafted by the prior GM not the current one.  If he looks good in preseason then yes they will keep him.  But he did not last year and unless he improves alot he could very well be gone.
