Why we passed on Reid and Harrison

Being physically talented can only get you so far (see D3 and Juco all stars). If they don’t have what it takes to grasp an NFL playbook then I’m glad we didn’t pick em up.

And with so many here complaining about Gaulden being slow, Harrison only ran a 4.63 40, so they have comparable speed.  However, Gaulden is much better in coverage and plays with good instinct.  Other than being more familiar with Harrison and him playing for Alabama, there is nothing that really says he was better than Gaulden...especially for what we want out of our safeties.

I also get the feeling that most (within the league) view Reid as a solid, if unspectacular, safety, while Gaulden has the potential to be dynamic when all is said and done.
