Do we stay away from players from specific schools?

Dunno but I have heard more than once that our Panther's and LSU share small similarities on the field... scheme wise and some of the language iirc.

Heard it first a few years ago after we drafted Trai Turner and once again after Donte Jackson.

If you don't want to take too much of a chance the formula seems pretty universally known to a degree... Give or Take

Rb and WR: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State

Dbs: FSU, LSU, Miami

OLine: Texas A&M, Notre Dame...

Dline: LSU, NC State, A&M, Ohio State, UNC, Bama

A few years ago, Penn State was pretty known for Lbs.

Off the top the only schools I would dodge is USC...  @ WR anyway...save Ju-Ju and Nelson Ag.

To continue more seriously, Moore was picked over Ridley because the defense knew he was he only threat.  He did what he did with a defense game planning against him, with a terrible OL and no real QB to mention.

Ridley had exactly the opposite.  So it is a fair statement to suggest that a good program can hide deficiencies and GMs are leary of some players.

Take Bama, for example.

How good is a S if they could win without him? If Bama could play 10 players on defense, leaving a S out of the game, they would still be  bowl eligible.

I think that's due the fact that Bama lands the most talent every year that it doesn't matter as much. I mean they practically are the Kentucky of college football when it comes to recruiting... they bench one guy and a five star kid from last year is just waiting on his shot. Kinda why they churn out so many drafted linebackers every year. Doesn't mean the player isn't good tho.

Let's  say I am a DT and the other DT is an all American.  So is the LB behind me.   The DEs are scary, 5 star recruits in their JR year. I never get doubled.  I lead the team in tackles.  Am I a first rounder?  hard to tell.

I agree with you, but I see why scouts might be skeptical of players with strong supporting casts.

last year was a pretty solid year for USC WR's...Juju, Nelson, Woods and Lee were all solid.  We just have a way of picking 'em haha

I think most of the scouting on these kids that are the cream of the crop is already done by their 2nd year in college..... Most of the kids have been scouted and rated since 8th-9th grade. Everyone saw Derwin James coming since like his Junior year in highschool for the most part. College is Sort of a prove it and refining talent for most of these high level athletes.... Some of these guys probably could make a pro squad out of highschool (Peterson certainly looked the part coming out and james as well) I think you see the Great ones with superior athletic traits before you see their production on the field is what i'm saying.
