What if Marty Hurney

Rivera didn’t do himself any favors with the bullshit they did in the locker room for JR either.

I honestly can’t wait until Hurney is gone.

Agreed, and I think that's a shame because I believe Rivera is a genuinely good man. He just really screwed up with that stunt.

It really doesn’t matter how this draft turns out, a potential owner has already got an idea of who he wants running things and I’m pretty sure it’s not Marty Hurney.

As for Rivera, I think this season has a lot riding on whether he stays or goes. If the curse continues and the team falls apart he’s gone for sure, if we have a great season he could stay.

I can't believe you have gone you whole life and never learned by watching others so you didn't repeat your mistakes over and over again.

I have not been fired because I suck at my job either.  You either have it or you don't.  Hurney don't.

Bruh if you can't hit that 3 all you gotta do is go sit in the chair across from 55 and he'll get you in the NBA in no time.....

Dood actually just tried to retort JB and said lifestyle changes or admitting mistakes will give you talent and that it's easy to go from bad to good with that.....acting like this is some 'my wife and I no longer spend time together' poo. If homie could convert poo GMs/players by telling them to admit their mistakes he'd be world famous by now and certainly not posting on here.

poo he could be Hurney's shrink lol....would explain it.

That is pretty naive so I will assume you are young. Otherwise you would know you can fired for many reasons and they aren't all about doing your job poorly. But I once read if you haven't been fired from a job at some point you either work for yourself or never step out of your comfort zone. You will learn that sometimes being fired teaches you a lot more than being successful and never stumbling.

Actually I'm close to retirement age.  The only time I have been fired was from my first ever part-time job in highschool.  I learned that you don't play hooky on the day your boss is off so you don't accidentally run into him when you are supposed to be working.

What you are referring to is experience.  At this stage in my career I'm what is known as a subject matter expert in my field.  That comes from decades of on the job experience on top of my degree and professional licence.

So if I'm fired now it's because I suck at my job.  I'm sure I would get offers based on my experience alone but I would not be employed very long because I suck at my job.

Actually if you get fired now it is because they can find someone new or younger who will work for less. Or they don't want to.make a long term committment to someone who is a short termer. If you don't work for yourself or as a consultant, the older you get the more vulnerable you are.

Of course I'm vulnerable at my age.  That is the nature of any career in the private sector.   It's always been that way.

My point is that if you've been doing something for a long time and you only got worse at it you get fired.  Sitting at home watching someone else do my job won't make me an expert at it no matter how much I want it to.

Let's be real here. If you really suck at it but have money you can do anything include run for office and be president. Then do a few years service and have benefits for life. Haven't you heard of the Peter Principle.

How do you think Hurney got the job in the first place?  He was never qualified.  He was good at following orders and keeping his mouth shut.

But I digress.  I gave the guy the benefit of the doubt in his first stent here.  I have no desire to see him resurrect his career with the Panthers.  I want to see a professional take a shot at it if you don't mind.

He got the job like most folks, he worked in then organization and was promoted. He was just as qualified at Gettleman was as Hurney did cap and Gettleman did scouting. Neither was an assistant or interim GM so it was a learning curve both ways. This time he is doing fairly well so I think you would be in the minority right now in thinking he should be fired. And honestly don't.need all the naysayers chiming in. We all know how you feel whether we want to or not.
