We have Literally Drafted SEVEN cornerbacks since Josh Normans depature. Is 2018 the Year we Finally "Figure it Out?"

Oh sure, you can cry that Hurney will convert this guy or use some other dude in special roles. But dont let that take away from the fact we have so far drafed a total of 7 CBs after 2015 .

Boy, if we cant figure it out this season someone in talent acquisition has to get fired. This is getting into Clevland Browns territory of ineptitude of drafting at one position in particular. I'm hoping it somehow glues together this year, but what do you think will happen? What if the secondary gets torched for the 3rd year strait after drafting 7 CBs ..

I think part of the problem is that we struggled with having lack of good Saftey play as well. It seems like they are hyper focused on trying to fix CB  and continuing to put patchwork out behind them at Saftey.

Didn’t the gm responsible for (or at least the guy that signed off on) most of those picks get canned last year?

Yeah but our new GM sucked before and took players they hadn't heard of til we drafted him over players they liked so he's still a bad GM.

Hurney knows what he is doing. If Hurney feel like corner was that bad, he would’ve taken Josh Jackson.

I think Donte Jackson is the next step to fixing this secondary.

its going to be an absolute poo storm if Jackson and that convereted saftey dude get injured  or bust lol. We'll just have to draft 3 more CBs next year, right?

I think the real problem was Gettleman shopping hungry when he drafted three straight CBs. Also, we failed to draft CBs that had different skill sets. Bradberry and Worley had the same skill set, 6"0 4.5-4.6 long arm CB. They both struggled against receivers that could play in the slot or guys with builds like Robby Anderson (6 receptions, 146 yards, 2 Tds against us). This was a similar issue that we had at the receiving end when we paired KB and Funchess and struggled to stretch the field. Donte Jackson gives the Panthers a better chance to defend quick release WRs or a back that can catch like Freeman or Kamara than say a Isaiah Oliver could.

Finally, I'm going with the team's viewpoint on Rashaan Gaulden at Safety. I assume the reason why they went with Gaulden over Ronnie Harrison is coverage. In the NFC South specifically, we need that position flexibility that Gaulden offers to matchup to the unique talents at TE, WR, or RB.

If I ever get functional internet again, I'd love to look up how Panthers drafting 6 or 7 CBs in 3 drafts compared to other teams drafting at a single position.

Especially when you consider the very small size of DGs draft classes, I've got to think that on a % basis, this is WAY out there.

It seems an exorbitant use of draft capital, and explains the huge holes we have at other positions.

I wasn't so opposed to letting JNo go after 2015. The money was crazy. But given that our secondary has been a hot mess ever since, I now consider this a major mistake.
