Can Dave Gettleman ever top the new record for extreme idiocy he set last night?

Why the Gettleman hate? He's had a pretty solid draft so far. You can't hate on drafting a guy like Barkley. Every time I saw Penn State play, and they were on TV a lot last season, Barkley was dominating. He's going to be a big time player this season and the Giants will probably be back in the playoffs.

Grabbing the guard Hernandez in the 2nd is just a great move every way around it. Giants O-Line was really bad last year.

Giants were terrible

New All Pro left tackle

Generational RB touted as the Number 1 player in the draft

Monster LG who was rated by everyone as a first rounder

LB/DE to rush the passer

A good rotational DT

Yeah, you have to hate Gman pretty bad to try to find fault in this because it sure is not football based

I've been a Gettleman supporter.

That being said he's been a terrible GM for the Giants so far. You don't spend the 2nd overall on a runningback, and especially an overrated one at that when there's a huge QB drought coming up.

Just picked a QB in the 4th that has HUGE potential.

And there was no stone-cold lock in the 1st at QB this year, they ALL have critical flaws and questions

I was never a Gettleman fan. Good luck, New York. That first round pick felt like an undue homage and deference to a 37-year-old Eli Manning. As good as Barkley is if you believe any remaining QB has a reasonable chance at being a franchise QB you have to draft him. He is delusional if he thinks Jonathan Stewart has lost nothing.

The local media always seemed to give Gettleman a pass and showed undue deference. They winked and laughed at his silly colloquialisms and treated them as if they were filled with wisdom. That will not happen in New York. If the king is not wearing any clothes he will be criticized. His ego drove too many decisions. That has already grown tiresome in New York.

Good riddance.

And yeah, as much as I dislike DG and feel like we're still running from his ghost of mistakes past, even in this draft (i.e., Norman), I was just thinking earlier how nice of a draft they're having.

That being said, I had to run out to the store earlier and ESPN Radio's national show was ripping him apart.  They said although on the surface, the Barkley pick looks great bc he may be the best athlete in the entire draft, their argument was that if any/all of the QBs picked around Barkley end up being franchise guys then it was a bad pick.  They said no matter how good Barkley ends up becoming, his impact will not be as big or as long-term as any of the franchise QBs from this draft especially if Eli's game falls off.

They also ripped him for mocking analytics and the host (Doug Kresarian) said there's a reason these "old school" GMs keep getting fired because they dont adjust.

Interesting take.

Time will tell regarding this draft. My focus was on his time in Carolina where the results never matched the "scout" reputation. I saw a guy with a huge ego, limited interpersonal skills, and overrated scouting skills who was high on self-importance.
