DJ Moore "Reception Perception" Profile

His success came from getting the ball quickly and doing all of the work. When you are catching balls from a 3rd or 4th stringer, chances are that the guy tossing the ball won't be able to throw every route. That should be analyzed. Success based upon catchable passes.

Ive seen a number of deep balls he caught in highlights I watched last night. He seems to specialize in short area quickness and power , but is more than capable of catching deep contested throws well down the field. His lack of having alot of deep catches is probably mostly a product of having 8 different QBs throwing him the ball .

Well doesn't the fact that he had horrible QBs throwing to him have something to do with that?

Not to mention they trimmed down the route tree at Maryland. Not because of Moore but because they needed to get the ball out quickly.

In essence, he's more a short intermediate threat who works well in space.

He needs a bit of refinement on route running to become a "deep threat", but currently he's a perfect compliment in Carolina's offense.

I disagree. This is a terrible stat if you play with a bad QB much less 8 of them. Moore has all the skills to play a Mike Irving type role in our offense.

Still amazes me that now that we have Norv Turner in the fold and the personnel input process, he have all these couch GMs trying to assess and tell us what a prospect none of us scouted personally can do....

I mean seriously fellas, we got the number one receiver in the draft by the opinion of several professionals, and at the worst 2nd if you are a Ridley fan, you don't find your way to being considered the BEST prospect at a position with a limited route tree as a receiver.

the way i'm looking at it is moore has done an incredible job of making sucky QBs look much less sucky and he's done whatever was needed to make that happen.

i think any perceived limitations he has, has more to do with the QBs and also the scaled back system he played in while at maryland.

he is a great WR who did well sepite his situation. can't imagine what he would or could do in a better situation...but we're getting ready to find out. pretty much the perfect WR for a less than super accurate QB who throws on the run quite a lot.

meanwhile, ridley is a great QB who played in a great system with good QBs. pretty much an ideal situation campared to moore's much less than ideal situation. ridley is going to a team with...let's just call it a more refined(? i'd almost call it boring) system with a game manager QB who is good at doing the basic stuff and doesn't do a lot to make life difficult for his WRs. basically he had it easy and he'll more or less have it easy.

the question is, could ridley have done as well as moore did in maryland and could moore have done as good or better than ridley at bama? the second question is....would ridley's more refined game translate as well into the scrappy game we play compared to what we hope moore might do? and could moore do as well in the current falcon's situation as ridley would?

i guess what i'm saying is that it's likely that both WRs went to the right team for their particular skill set.

ridley seems like the right target for a game manager QB. moore seems like the right target for a system that relies to a degree on improvisation moreso than other teams.

As a Big Ten man, and someone who has actually seen Moore play. I can tell you the kid is going to make you all smile, a lot. The main reason I like him so highly? It just appears that every route he runs, the CB is always playing catch up.

Would also like to parrot what some others have said. The reason his success rate goes down the further down the field he gets? Bad QBs. Moore would be running free, but you never know whether he will receive a catchable pass, or more likely not.

Moore can run routes from anywhere, and he will be exciting doing so. So don't let folks diminish your giddy over this kid. He gon b good I tell ya what.
