What needs can wait until the 3rd

Everyone is talking about what we should do in the 2nd but maybe we should be looking at the 3rd.

You just can't wait until the 3rd to fill needs because there might not be players at certain positons that have realistic chances of making it.

What positions offer the best chance of being filled in the third?  Once we know that it might help making the 2nd round decision easier.

I think we might can wait on guard and center.  Maybe even RB.  I would probably prefer to wait on safety than CB

It wouldn't surprise me if we went DE, not sure about drafting one in the third.

Since Hernandez and Daniels fell, I think guys like Braden Smith may fall to the third. That said, if we are desperate for G/C we should be on the phone now because two guys I liked in the first are available.

DE could definitely be in play in the third. I don’t like the 4-3 DE class but late 3rd is fine. Funny that the Saints paid so much to move up to get Davenport and guys like Hubbard, Green, Thomas, etc. could be 3rd rounders.

At this point, the picks are a crap shoot. It’s really hard to know who is going to be available in the 2nd or 3rd. I just hope there’s a run on the WRs and QBs left. That QB, LB and OT haul in the first really helped us just sit and wait at 24.

I agree with you that I'm not crazy about the DE class, but if we do want one (not saying we will or should) I'm not sure the 3rd is the place for it.

You might have a better chance of getting 2 starters by going DE in the second and Safety in the 3rd than going Safety in the second and DE in the third.

I could see Hubbard, Green, and Sweat all being in the late 2nd, early 3rd range, not sure what will be there at 85.  I think you have a better chance of finding a decent safety in the third than DE.

RB, TE, OL

Have to go secondary here

Our biggest weakness on thus team coming in was passing offense and defense.

We worked on fixing the offense part. Drafting Moore, signing Smith, and extending Olsen

Now we have to fix the pass D

We really need to get either a power RB like Chubb that can catch and pass protect or go with a dual threat TE that can help in run blocking & pass protection while giving Cam a intermediate target in the receiving game.

We’ll see how it falls out but I disagree. I think Bates, Harrison and Reid (all of whom had private visits) won’t be there in the 3rd and they are a tier above the rest. I’ve been on record as not wanting a DE at all this year. We have Addison, Peppers, Horton, Hall and Cox. We don’t have room for a project yet. Seeing as how we ignored DE (only Thomas who should be there at 85/88 had a visit), we may like Hall and if we do there’s no one shoulders above him. I’ll throw another stake down and say I’d pick all three of those safeties over DE in the second. Our need at safety is way bigger than DE and 2019 draft could be DE in the 1st, better class.

Valid points, I’m just thinking a DE might be higher on Hurney’s or Ron’s list than we think.  Maybe not
