If Torrey Smith isn't notably better than young talent, he's the guy you cut.

Mainly because you can cut him and it won't cost you a dime in dead money and you'll get 100% savings of his $5M salary toward the cap.  "Leadership" (which I think Funch is now perfectly prepared to do along with Wright) isn't worth $5M.  He either shows out in pre-season and proves to be of value or you cut him.

Why wouldn’t we keep 6? It’s possible Samuel may not be ready week 1 and Byrd was injured twice last year

I listed 6 on my proposed depth chart?  (The Byrd/Bersin is a roster choice, not that both made the team.)

I'd hate to cut Byrd, but we may have to.  Or we could possibly get a late rounder for him.

For those who did not want a WR:

Even with Wright and Smith, we were not better than KB/Funch/Sheperd/Byrd, etc. We need weapons, and Moore is a weapon.

There are no more WRs in this draft who can come in and  start right away and be a weapon.  If we were going to use the draft to upgrade WR, we HAD to go WR in the first round.

X- Funchess

Y- Wright, Samuel

Z- Smith, Moore

Moore can backup Fun too.  Byrd can be thrown in at the Y or Z.
