RUMOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROUND ONE

Its an easy rumor to believe.

I keep thinking about Hurney's comment that he didn't think the defensive prospects were as good as some people thought.  Almost like he was setting us up for it.

Also it didn't seem like we really went hard after any of the top FA WRs.

We have a new OC that they have said they want to make sure he has the tools to be successful.

We have a new OC that I think has some pull with the HC.

We have a HC that I think has some pull with the new GM, maybe more than with the last GM.\

I just hope we don't' have to trade up to get one of them, and hopefully its Ridley or Moore.

According to my source rd one is 100% a wr . RIDLEY ,KIRK OR DJ MOORE , only exception is if all 3 of these players are taken then we will go with a corner or trade back .

Your sources have been wrong so far.

Didn't you say last week Kirk was our #1 WR?

So why not just say Kirk is the pick since there hasn't been any hype surrounding him from other teams?

Seems like you are hedging your bet by adding Ridley and Moore into the equation...

I am pretty sure that your OPINION is wrong.  Compare our WR corps to the rest of the league.  Smith?  a journeyman with below average numbers and hands.  Wright? grabbed a whopping 19 balls last year. Samuel?  Fragile so far, may not be ready.

Cockrell had a strong year last year and Bradberry was victimized by blitzing too much.  You can upgrade CB in the second or third--but WR must be done in the first.

But how you call us "much better off" at WR---we lost Benjamin and replaced him with a deep threat and a blocking slot who averaged a catch a game for 10 yards?

I disagree with your assessment.

Right... between bradberry, cockrell, the young guys that took Worley's job last year, captain, and corn elder to battle it out in the slot ... I'm not saying don't add talent there but just looking at that vs funchess being our  number 1... smith and wright(you summed em up) then Samuels and Byrd as hopefully they can stay on the field guys.. I just don't see how anyone is ok with our wr corps. The fact that norv has  been working out the top receivers should show what the panthers think. Wide receivers no one is scared of leads to a poo running game due to stacked boxes and our  QB getting blitzed and therefore hit more. Asking Cam to ball out and lead this team with mediocre WRs year after year is ridiculous

I'm fine with Ridley or Moore in the first, but not Kirk.  He's a second rounder.

I'm fine with a CB like Oliver or Alexander, but don't see value in a 1st round S.

WR, CB or G/C .

And though it's not popular I have no issues with trading our #24 for 2 number twos if they are in the top 40.  We simply have that many holes to fill.

This shiz right here, Yes!

Ridley is growing on me. I was on the Moore bandwagon, but the competition he faced against the SEC defenses, seems like he is more of a sure thing. Alabama didn't exactly have a good passing QB either.

Funchess/Ridley would be a good pairing.

I have a feeling the Cowboys might draft him though. I think the Sutton rumors are the Cowboys trying to hype him up. He has bust potential, especially considering the competition he played against at SMU.

Here is how I would think about it:

  • Can you upgrade WR in the first round?  YES
  • Can you upgrad WR in the second round?  Not really--just more of the same, unless you trade up-maybe, but then we lose depth.
  • Can you upgrade CB or S in the first round--of course you can.
  • Can you upgrade CB or S in the second round.  Yes for S, probably for CB.

So if you DON"T get a WR in round 1, you run the risk of being bad at WR---again.  We need a playmaker, and we don't have one.

We have Funchess, CMC, Samuel. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't go wr till 3rd. Oh and we got Greg's Olsen for 3 more years
