And Hurney's draft record.

The only thing he is good at is first rounders.

Am hoping Hurney has learned something since his last run here.  He says he has.  Also hope he will respect Norv's opinion of offensive players.  Going to be positive.

I do think trading down in round 1, unless someone is at 24 that we can't pass up, is an idea worth considering.

So many needs now though.....

People are saying TE and DE are “needs.” I don’t see them that way. Those two positions are luxury picks. Olsen has at least 1-2 years left. TE could be a target in the draft or FA next year. UFA or late rounder is also a possibility.

DE I see the same way. Prove to me Daeshon Hall can’t produce before you trade a 1st to get more pucks and get....another Daeshon Hall.

Hurney can't drop all the way out of the first because he is actually and literally a pile of poo after then.

Like many keep saying. Let him pick the first round then take a truncheon to the back of his head and have him sit out the remainder of the draft.

Not a fan of giving up a 5th year option on a starter.

How much is the 5th year option for Shaq? 9.2m

I'm not sure if it is the financial windfall that some think.

How much would he get on the open market?  Also if we would have traded down that year to 34 we would have saved 2m over those 4 years which could be used to pay the first year on a longer deal

Also you have to consider what you might be losing by letting go of that 3rd pick.  What if that pick becomes and average to above average starter?  What does an above average starter go for in free agency?  If it is a 6m? 8m? look at some of the receivers that signed this off season.

Even if you go with 6m that is 6m in savings over four years, 24m, that easily offsets any saving from a 5th year option.  You don't even have to right that often with the 3rd pick, if you are correct 25% of the time it probably offsets the 5th year savings.
