if that was your way of finding new ways to be condescending toward honest opinion based in fact, then oooh, consider me stung. I am reeling from the blow.

People that are bashing Steve Smith can go f themselves. Seriously. You're an f'ing idiot if you think that 89 is even 1% of why we're 2-3 and have such a bad team when compared to last season.

What!? Really, you place blame on everyone but one player?

Sorry but Steve Smith is a part of the Carolina Panthers and with that comes the glory and the blame. As a team they are 2-3. In those three loses every player and coach hold some amount of responsiblity for those loses. As well as every player and coach holds some amount of responsibility for the two wins.

If any of my comments came across as bashing Smith it wasn't for his play on the field but rather the lack of acknowledgement and pride that came from his comment.

You're off the mark though with what the true problem is even though I'm sure you didn't mean to be. If Jake Delhomme didn't overshoot 89 by 10 to 15 yards on his deep balls, this wouldn't even be an issue. Blaming Smith for not having Usain Bolt speed instead of blaming Jake for not even being a mediocre quarterback isn't fair.

And you can blame Davidson for the playcall, but Jake is ultimately the one that throws the ball.

So I guess Smith deserves a fraction of the blame for the overthrows and Davidson deserves a small percentage of blame for the pick 6, but the one that was far and away responsible for both of those was Jake Delhomme. Focusing on those that were practically non-factors in those plays not succeeding is missing the mark.

I'm not blaming Smitty for not having "Usain Bolt speed." What I'm saying is, he doesn't appear to me, IMO, to be the same player he's been in the past.

Like I said, Jake has blown ass plenty of times this year. I'm not displacing blame onto Smitty for Jake's sake... Jake has made a sh*tload of mistakes this year. But, once again, Smitty has tipped a good number of the well thrown balls that have come his way up in the air for INTs. He's dropped several balls this year. He just hasn't looked the same. That was my point.

He admitted to losing focus in the Philly game, and it clearly didn't stop there. He hasn't fought for balls several times this year... He broke off the route in Dallas that led to an INT out of frustration. He's not the same.

Jake has sucked. The WRs have sucked. The OL has under performed. The defense has been horrid. The playcalling is horrible. And as I mentioned, Davidson's routes are elementary at best. They aren't setting Jake or Smitty/Moose/Jarrett or any other WR up for success. The blame goes on all of them.

Guys I'm telling ya that if Smith were allowed to run his mouth more of this stuff would come out. He's better off not talking to the media because he has trouble controlling it sometimes. Running off at the mouth like that to the media does nobody any good. If he felt it tell the coaching staff, tell Jake, whatever, but running your fat lips to the media does no good. They don't forget, things like this follow you. most people can overlook it fine, but it's drama. Unnecessary drama especially after a win and people want to stay positive. But somebody has to bitch about the win and whine. Every win there is something the team could have done better......

Smitty's a player, and a proud one at that! I think end arounds and reverses that allow him to carry the ball are good things to consider and implement. I think a pre-third down short yardage situation with Smitty in the Wildcat behind center once in awhile could produce some benefits as well. I think it's reasonable to assume Smitty isn't the same player he has been, simply because of the beating he has taken as this team's primary (and quite often, the ONLY) receiver Jake will go to. But I don't believe he's finished. The lack of a third receiver, the inconsistent use of our TEs, lack of consistent screens to our RBs, these all allow the other teams to keep a disproportionate focus on Smitty. He's a weapon system, and we should do more to get the ball into his hands. If we can't pass it to him, hand it to him.

Only having 1 wide receiver hurts. I love Moose but he is like a skinny tight end right now. He is consistently single pressed covered because he can't beat anyone deep. He blocks like a beast, he catches really well, but until we can put a threat on the other side Steve Smith will consistently get doubled and we will see mostly 8 in the box.

I would hate to see a Smitty who isn't all in. He has done terrific things for the team and has played with all his heart. I think this particular situation is exactly what the opposing D coordinators want and that's why they are locking him down.

Sad as it seems as Smitty goes, so does the Offense. We need to keep him, regardless of how many balls are not thrown to him.

Maybe we should just pay him a mil per game, that should help....

Bottom line. Smith ain't the problem here. It is Jake plain and simple. Jake accuracy is crappy now. It ain't like it was years ago. Years ago when jake was younger his accurcy was good. But he is older and 2 years removed for tommy john surgry. and it looks like the Surgry and the injury and age has caught up with Jake. Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Jake played in NFL Europe and was a back up for saints for a feew years. Came into year 2 under fox and Jake took over the starting QB job after Peete failed to play good. Jake from then and up to now has given us a good run. But he has done what he could Jake has lost it and can not play anymore. Some of you don't want to see that. Fox has lost his toughness and doesn't really care about the team anymore. If he did he would give Matt Moore a chance at QB now and not when the season over. Like I said earlier today. Matt Moore can't do any worse then Jake did today. So just give Moore a freaking chance. And not for one game neither.
